All cost around or more than 18m, of course some were more established than others.
Well, to be fair, ALL quite a lot more established apart from Mikel and Anderson.
Mikel doesn't count though - he initially went to Utd for £4m.
...and Ramires?
M'Vila comes with a similar reputation. Maybe he has had a poor season (I have no idea) but he's also shown promise previously. And the French team is being built with him around him. 18 caps at his age for a major country isn't something to sniff at, even with all the problems facing the French NT that their manager trusts him is impressive.
Anyway, money is really not the problem. We, of all people, can't get worked up about whether Arsenal is paying what a player is worth.
And if he's a good player, he'll improve us. Maybe not in the most efficient way but you have to admit that football does surprise you.
Two years ago the idea that Wilshere could play deep in central midfield was dismissed even by those who saw him regularly for the reserves. While he's not proven anything yet, he's got the skillset to play in a more advanced role. In addition, someone like Podolski will also strengthen our forward play. That's two big changes from this season. And it's only bloody May, transfers don't have to be completed in order of priority. I admit it's unlikely we'll sign any other big names though.
And we only have two-three midfielders that can be relied upon, we can't exactly afford to be sniffy. Everyone else is either injury prone, young, out of form, inconsistent or Diaby.
