Not trying to be funny, but Wilshere will be like a new signing. And then we'll have AOC kicking on and Podolski at the club, with Gervinho hopefully settling in and Miyaichi playing a bit part role.

It's very unlikely that we'll buy a ready made 'superstar' but Wilshere and AOC are diamonds in the rough and could catapult us to the next level along with van Persie. And if Podolski keeps up the form he's shown for Koln, he'll be as good as anyone else out there.

I don't know, those two plus Chamakh and Park have 35 starts plus about the same number of sub appearances between them. That doesn't seem like a huge number considering we'll add Podolski and the Ox will get more games next season, never mind Ryo.

Maybe so but we could have made a better challenge on all fronts if we had genuine options to bench alot of players when they were struggling for form. We won't win anything if people like Chamberlain and Ryo are figuring in those decisions.

van persie, podolski, new signing, walcott, gervinho, chamberlain.

is theo going to be ok with sitting on the bench? there's a possibility that chamberlain could jump ahead of him as well. same would apply to gervinho, he might not even make the substitute's bench. not sure i realistically see the room for another signing (assuming walcott is extended and podolski is a done deal).

I don't know, I expect Chamberlain to progress quickly. He'll definitely need more than 15 starts next season.

We don't need another winger at all. Unless we're bringing in an absolute world class star then its a waste of time and money IMO.

I'd sooner sign M'Vila or someone in that mould than an equivalent talent on the wing. Or sign another player at AM who can give us something we lacked there this season. One or the other.

M'vila is a fairly persistent rumour and Song to Inter has definitely cropped up a few times now.

More chance of us signing M'vila than them signing Song.

I'm not worried by song going. a) because I don't think we'd sell and b) if he goes we will get someone else in

Swapping Song for M'Vila would go down as the dumbest thing we've done in a decade. Literally no chance of it happening as long as Wenger has some say in the matter.

Starting to think that there might be space for M'Vila in the team if we alter the formation a bit next season though. Still wouldn't sign him for anything close to £20 million.

The biggest appeal about bringing in mvila would be the discipline and application he'd bring to our midfield

I think he'd limit us more than he'd help us. There's a reason Wenger doesn't want Song to sit. If we changed to something more like a diamond we'd have room for someone like M'Vila though, but that's a big if.

Aye, that would be the logical conclusion the way things currently stand. Just don't see how he's an improvement over Arteta though.

He would not be a step down though? Plus Arteta is hitting 30 so he's not a long term option.

M'Vila would be a step down from both Arteta and Song.

Re: Arteta, I think the biggest question mark is his injuries. He's lost his explosiveness compared to his early days at Everton but physically he looks like a player in his mid-twenties. He's been spared the strain of both Champions League football and the national team for basically his whole career. I wouldn't be surprised to see him perform well into his mid-thirties. Think we have another three or four really good seasons in him unless he does his knee again.
