He's a quick, young, black winger we've signed from Southampton so he's always going to be compared to Walcott. He's more technically sound than Walcott though. Hopefully he'll make a quicker move into serious first team football.

Hope he develops and adapts quickly this season.
Can't expect that he'll be fully ready for first team football, or be hugely influential, but he might prove useful at various stages.

Looking forward to seeing him play as I've not seen him in live action.

Better than Miyachi I hear and Miyachi has impressed me the few times of seen him.

Heard it reported on radio news that we paid £12m + £3m in add ons.

Be interesting to compare Oxlade and Ryo over the course of the season so.
Pity we couldn't fast forward and have the 2013 versions of both of them right now.
I reckon they'll be really tearing into PL defences by then.

My boss is a Saints fan and said he's a good enough footballer to play a bit of first team for us this coming season. Also said that he was more excited about Theo at the same age, though.

comes across so well in his interview. says the atmosphere at the barca game blew him away, that he looks to beat his man whilst always looking to feed others. Knows he has pace 🙂

This may not be the signing that get's a lot of people excited. But the club has clearly moved to getting a core of talented young British players at the club and Chamberlain is certainly a part of that. Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Gibbs, Chamberlain...not bad. And I personally, much prefer our route to Liverpool spending crazy money on the likes of Henderson, Downing and Caroll to try to do the same.

From what I've read most people are happy with this signing.
I think there's just a certain amount of anxiety that this may be it for the summer in terms of attacking players.

Our route is only best as long as we keep these players past the age of 24.

We're not doing so well on that front at the moment.

My point being, regardless of nationality, if we are neither paying competitive wages nor winning titles, we will face exactly the same problems with at least a few out of the above named.

The problem with the 'youth policy' imo, was that we didn't sign enough quality young players. Too many youngsters that weren't really top notch. Hopefully the current lot will be a bit better.

Good to have him on board, if he turns out to be as useful as Wilshere, Ramsey or even Walcott then I'll be happy.

Quite a few British players in the side now, would be good/funny to see this side at some point.

Tim, I totally agree. And while I like Ryo, I'm generally not a fan of buying young players who can't get Visas and have to be loaned out for years. It just seems like a waste of time and energy I'd rather be put elsewhere.
