It's never really, truly been that we just "don't have the personnel." We know what our players are capable of, we've seen them do great things on football pitches...almost all of them, too. Our starting XI is quite good.
Right now, our run of good form has come due to the team working properly as a unit and a group. Whether this is because some of our older players and new signings are more receptive to instruction, or because they have taken it upon themselves to sort out some of the bad juju in the squad, is not particularly important. Everything suggests that attitude, understanding, and determination (read: mentality) are necessary regardless of the quality of our playing staff. The fact that our management and coaching staff has been unable to instill these traits consistently across multiple iterations of the post-2006 Arsenal squads means, to me, that they are not up to it for the long term.
I think we've got the playing staff, and that we have had it for some time...1 or 2 short perhaps. Arsene didn't sort them out against Milan, nor against Utd, nor against any of the really critical games over the years. We can't rely on the player to do it all themselves (though, of course, to some extent they have to...I think Cesc (in hindsight) and Gallas were really dragging us down).
