I'm happy to wait it out as well, but I don't accept the argument that because we haven't sucked since mid October, we'll be title-winning material with a bit of a spit and polish.
That's a run of 23 games.
Not title winning, I've been careful not to claim that at all, but rumours of our demise seem to have been greatly exaggerated. By our own fans and the media.
It seems like 7 games are enough to condemn a team to has-beens but 23 games are not enough to make a favourable judgement? I find that odd, it can't only be one way.
The element of luck in some of our recent wins can't be denied. Late goals, golazo goals to win matches we should already have wrapped up.
Liverpool, Newcastle, Sunderland - all with winners after 90 minutes
Everton - Drenthe goal wrongfully disallowed
😆 What? Somebody tell Michael Thomas that.
It was within regulation time and it's the mark of champions!1! 🙂
More over, all those teams were always going to be tight and cagey to play against. It's not a surprise that they were decided so close to the end, which is why we invest so heavily in younger, fitter players who can keep up the tempo longer etc. And we had a player as good as van Persie or someone with the desire of Tommy V or bringing back Thierry Henry, that's not particularly lucky imo. We forced the issue as much as anything else.
