He would have been given written permission for him to take part in the trial and the compensation would be worked out accordingly. Fees for non-professionals are usually paid to avoid being reported for inducement but I would assume Arsenal permitting the trial had already negated that possibility.

Not sure, Capi. Wouldn't he have signed a 1 year deal on a pro contract when he turned 17? But I'm not sure how that fits with the new compensation rules with regards to the fee involved.

Not necessarily, no.

Don't think he did actually (no record of it on Arse.com, and he was leaving partly because Arsenal were dithering on offering him a contract), so it would have been a compensation fee that West Ham would have had to pay - which isn't set by Arsenal. So maybe this Jorge guy is talking out of his backside.

Feels good that it's in our hands, and it's incredible that our goal difference and Chelsea's are the same in spite of the Old Trafford beating. That 7-1 win and Henry's winner today might have put our season back on track, at least for a fight.

Just had a look at the next 7 PL fixtures coming up: Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa, QPR, Manchester City. The league is crazy this year, expect a lot of points still to be dropped, hopefully with a good end.

Most of the harder games are at home so we have a good chance.

Last season we were crap at home and good away, this season it's the reverse.
It's a funny old game.

We have to go to Pool and Everton. Only two fixtures that look daunting because of our away form.

Let's not forget we have the Milan return leg sandwiched between spurs and Liverpool

Yup, still think we will finish 4th if RvP stays fit.

It's unreal though, we're still "good" to be 4th now. Imagine if we were in Pool or Chelsea's situation; they've been unable to create a better team than ours with all the recourses they have had.

I wouldn't be able to imagine this place or AM if Wenger had bought a 35 million striker, 20 million pound striker, 18 million pound winger, 15 million pound midfielder from Sunderland

And we were 7th

Or bought a 50 million pound striker, 25 million pound defender and not top of the league.

Say what you want about the man but if he had to spend that amount of money you just know he would spend it alot better than those two did.

There are plenty of clubs we can´t compete with when it comes to spending money. Fortunately, we "only" have to compete with other clubs on the pitch. We should spend what we need to be able to do that. Everything else is largely irrelevant.

I think what O´Neill has done at Sunderland is very impressive tbh, and so was what he did at Aston Villa.

He's one of the best motivators in the game. I'm not so sure about his ability in the transfer market though. I do wonder how he'd do with a big club in England.
