So what's the story there? it was like a big deal a few weeks ago? "he's back"?
how come?

Basically he was never 'let go', he left of his own accord, failed a trial elsewhere and being the class establishment we are, we have let him come back to finish his scolarship.

(well either that or we let him back so we could recoup his training costs)

There was a bit of a story there - he was one who caught the eye, but there was talk about mentality, and some rumors (assumptions, whatever) about who whispered on his ears. Anyway - it was quite mysterious (not so long ago, either) and - out pops a smiling Alban Bunjaco?

He had a trial with West Ham and they wanted to sign him, but Arsenal wanted too much, so West Ham gave up. Last I heard he was due to go and have trials with Celtic and Rangers, but I think he's seen the light and realised leaving Arsenal is not the right move, and we've kindly allowed him to come back.

senior level we'd already have caught up with West ham anyway?
He's not exactly the usual story, Mr. Bunjaco, is he? I was a bit disappointed with it (but he always did leave a big question mark in terms of seriousness; shame with his talent. OK, so seen the light it is. Hope "grows up" follows).

He's not homegrown. That's the point. Although looking at the list again we lack three homegrown players, not one (that's why the 25 man squad only contains 22 players). Almunia was just dropped to pave way for Henry.

Actually, it's unfair to say not good enough. Different clubs want different things so it's better to say that West Ham have players in their own ranks who they feel are a safer bet for them.

That Jorge Bird fella said Arsenal wanted too much for him, but West Ham were interested.

Looking at that squad registration, Szczesny and Ramsey will be moved into the 25 man squad next season. That would leave room for one more homegrown player over 21 to complete the squad. Basically we can't do shit in the summer unless we sign players under the age of 21 or start to offload some of the lesser lights from the non-homegrown category.

Henry won't be here next season so there's an opening for one non-homegrown player right away. After that we're full though. The last (mandatory) homegrown spot will probably remain vacant for another season until Wilshere can fill it.

Just curious because I'm not overly keen on Bunjaku myself, although loads of others seem to think he's amazing (including on here if I remember rightly). So West Ham not wanting him would seem to suggest he's not a particularly special talent.

I dunno who Jorge Bird is but I heard it directly from the west ham end rather than arsenal.

Also the Perse and Theo contract situation plus Fabianski is starting to get restless.

What fee would Arsenal be asking for exactly?

He would have been given written permission for him to take part in the trial and the compensation would be worked out accordingly. Fees for non-professionals are usually paid to avoid being reported for inducement but I would assume Arsenal permitting the trial had already negated that possibility.

Unless he just means West Ham didn't think Bunjaku was worth the compensation but has worded it strangely..?

Almunia isn't included in the current squad either. But yeah, Squillaci and Arshavin leaving to free up some space would be my guess too. Maybe Rosicky too, but I can see him sign a one-year extension if anything good fails to materialise. Chamakh will most certainly leave and be replaced like for like.

On the other hand we have Bendtner and Vela coming back. Denilson too I suppose. Whole squad is going to need a massive cleanup. It's a little unfortunate that there's a summer tournament going on.
