Ronaldo used to be an exciting winger who could beat players for fun with his dribbling but he's now morphed into a forward version of Lampard. A very ugly footballer to watch . He can hardly beat players these days
He was actually one of my favourites non arsenal players despite him being a United player. I rated him the most in 2006/2007. He could dribble very well, put good crosses in and scored important goals. He was in my opinion a better player then than he is now. But his game started to change after that season, it became more about getting goals and his general play started to deteriorate. Watching him these days I wonder why people still rate him as a footballer. He's developed into a freak when it comes scoring goals but he's now a limited footballer. As I said, he struggles to beat players, doesn't pass, has got poor awareness of what's around him, link-up play is non existent, doesn't defend, what else is there? His spends most games trying to win cheap free kicks in promising areas and subsequently blazing them over the bar(0 goals from 32+ free kicks in la liga so far 😆 ), shoots at every opportunity from the most ridiculous of angles - awful to watch. But scoring a goal every game masks all the deficiency in his game.
The truly great players(teams) that are appreciated the most by football fans are not only effective but are also very entertaining to watch. Ronaldo is only effective these days.
Henry was comfortably the better player - more elegant on the ball, just as effective, better passing ability and above all a far far better footballing brain.
