I don't watch much football to compare the three-four leagues but I feel there's now too much of a quality gap between Real Madrid/Barcelona and everyone else.

Is it wrong for me to suggest Real are overrated?

I reckon one of the English sides could take them.

I never compared VDV to Bergkamp and youre mixing up legacy with quality.

Personally, I dont think Balotelli has quite as much raw, natural ability as some people say he has. Good player no doubt, though.

Balotelli is a weird one. If only he have better attitude he might already be world class. You can see the lad has loads of ability when he takes random pot shots casually and it crashes off the crossbar

I think Balotelli's 'crazy' is about 90% playing up to the image myself.

I agree Tim. Balotelli has tons of ability, not difficult to spot, but I think the stunts he's pulled since his arrival have created a little bit more of a buzz around him than his ability warrants.

Maybe, but 8 goals in 11 league games is pretty impressive stuff for a 21 year old. Goal every other game striker already.

Is it really when you're playing up front for the best team in the country that doesn't have a poor player in the squad? Not sure what he'd be doing if you swapped him with Darren Bent at Villa or Louis Saha at Everton, or even Adebayor at Tottenham. Think each of those players would have probably banged in similar numbers given the same opportunities this season.

He's a proper talent, and will no doubt be a very good player, but I think he has a long way to go before it becomes nailed on that he'll be one of the best around.

I dunno, it's just that he's been in the league for nearly 18 months now and I've seen very little that tells me he's going to be an absolute terror for opposition teams to contain. He's actually got a very good all round game for a kid-great touch with his back to goal and very cool, composed finisher-but usually when you're talking the best in the world when it comes to forwards, you're looking at players that can do incredible things game in game out. Not really seen flashes of that sort of potential yet.

Balotelli is potentially a physical monster a la Ronaldo. Seems to have the brain of Winnie the Pooh though.

I know what you mean, but I still remember Ronaldo as a 19/20 year old tearing teams apart on occasion, just without the clinical end product he has now. Not seen Balotelli do anything like that yet.

He is a big tall lad with serious pace, very good close control and who strikes the ball extremely well. I can see Balotelli bullying pretty much any team down the road.

I can just as easily see him leaving Man City in a year with a bang, quitting football altogether at 24 and being in jail by 25...

Ricky, why is it that Ronaldo and Balotelli are punished for playing with great players but Henry is not punished for playing with the greatest players you have ever seen (like Pires and Bergkamp)? Apparently, those players SHOULD be getting the stats they have accomplished because they are on good teams, but this doesn't apply to Henry. I've heard of partisan, but this...
