Completely agree Alf, Spanish and indeed Sth American players generally don't do as well as other Europeans and Africans in the PL.

So, as far as you know, the hacksaw about how "our commercial team costs £15m p.a. and is the most expensive in the game" refers only to the marketing bods and Gazidis' executives, and not to our legal or financial services costs, or anything related to player recruitment and retention then?

That's the reason I raised the team - because it's common to see posters on here bagging Gazidis' people as expensive do-nothings at the moment.

Hope this works out though, at least we're moving away from those pseudo-playmaker type wide players and replacing them with quick, goal scoring wingers.

He's a little bit in between Biggus. His creative passing is very good but he is a goalscoring wideman; different style but he is more Pires than Nasri if that makes sense.

He can also cross very well...

Keep Nasri and Cesc, add this guy and Jagielka and I'd consider it a successful summer.

If we keep Cesc and Nasri, and add Mata and Gervinho we'll have a scarily deep squad on the attacking five positions. I'm considering not putting Arshavin in my fantasy team, he might not get enough minutes.

I'm so hyped over the prospect of signing Mata. He's exactly the type of player we want out wide. It'll improve our attack significantly, which was always the most important thing to do this summer. One or two defensive signings on top of that and we're set.

I do, which is why I'd keep him for another year. The gap isn't that huge though and Mata is better than any other wide player at the club. I've got a lot of time for Walcott too but he can't seem to stay fit. I'm not talking solely about improving the starting eleven but the squad as a whole. Our lack of penetration became pretty obvious last season when the most important players were missing and we couldn't score for toffee. I've been of the opinion that we need a bigger goal threat from the wide players for a long time. I think Mata and Gervinho will prove to be very good signings with that in mind.
