I'm so hyped over the prospect of signing Mata. He's exactly the type of player we want out wide. It'll improve our attack significantly, which was always the most important thing to do this summer. One or two defensive signings on top of that and we're set.

I was under the impression you rated Nasri as the better player?

I'd accept a Mata for Nasri 'swap'. Making the best of a difficult situation.

I do, which is why I'd keep him for another year. The gap isn't that huge though and Mata is better than any other wide player at the club. I've got a lot of time for Walcott too but he can't seem to stay fit. I'm not talking solely about improving the starting eleven but the squad as a whole. Our lack of penetration became pretty obvious last season when the most important players were missing and we couldn't score for toffee. I've been of the opinion that we need a bigger goal threat from the wide players for a long time. I think Mata and Gervinho will prove to be very good signings with that in mind.

heck, it could be an improvement, I'm baffled as to why ppl are so scared of selling nasri. Its the thought of not selling him that terrifies me.

I hope we do everything to keep Nasri. What he lacks now is a bit of consistency, that´s all. At 23 it is only natural that consistency will come. If it does, it will take him to the bracket of players second only to Ronaldo and Messi IMO.

It scares me we will miss out on that since we certainly won´t buy quality like that. Btw, Mata is NOT on Nasri´s level.

Mata most certainly is on nasri's level

Mata has never, for a sustained period, been as good as Nasri was for a few months last season IMO.

Nasri would never have given Valencia as much as mata did across last season

I have to agree with you but i feel the additional experience that Nasri has is going to count somewhere .

Your dislike of him is clouding your judgement. Nasri is a brilliant player.

c'mon Rex.. Nasri was very good for only the first half of the season.. after that, he was just about useless.. scores 90% of his goal tally before Christmas

prior to that, he was decent, but unspectacular...

Mata has scored more goals in considerably less games and is a year younger than Nas

not saying that Mata is better than Nas is, but i would EASILY put him on the same level

BTW, was it just me or did anyone else catch the irony of Rex saying "Mata could not product for a sustained period the way Nasri did for a few months" ?

Nasri's so much better than some here give him credit for. So much better.
