Unless he starts scoring all round him and putting in match winning performances week in week out I don't know how he's going to put down a whole season here without signing a new contract.

Seeing the whole Nasri and Fabregas saga unfold strengthens my belief that we should have canned Wenger, and let a new manager remodel the squad. The mood amongst the club, owners and fans is toxic. We need some sense of positive change

At this point I feel even more strongly than before that the best course of action is to fuck Nasri off to the highest bidder. This idea that "just having him in the side is more important than £20m" seems, on balance, all the more likely to be total bollocks to me.

Cesc on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish. He's under contract and must do his duty if Barcelona don't furnish the cash. I hope the rumour that he's set to depart for as little as 35m euros is false.

The contracts define the flow of money - we should let them speak instead of making these feeble appeals to loyalty and decency.

I'm fine with selling Fabregas for whatever Barcelona can cobble together. We do not need another season of listening to our manager talking about how our captain is torn between two loves. It's depressing

He may be torn emotionally, but his contract's well and truly intact. I don't really care how the little blighter feels at this point, he has an easy life as far as I'm concerned - we certainly roll the red carpet out for him in a footballing sense.

oh i agree, and we should hold out until barca gets serious with their offer, but we have a disillusioned employee. we're not going to get 100% from him. and i would expect even less from nasri because he is a shithead, unlike fabregas.

Fabregas has a decent PR machine, I think that's the main difference we as fans perceive among the players. They are differently motivated people but I wouldn't necessarily believe the hype when it comes to them being arseholes or otherwise.

It is scary that there is such simmering angst amongst fans for certain players before a ball has been kicked in the season.

The fans can't be blamed but the players will feel these vibes when they step onto the pitch against Liverpool. I hope everyone can still get behind them, initially atleast, else, the results won't be very good.

Well Nasri is still doing his job and is happy to fulfil his commitments to Arsenal right up until the end of his contract. To me thats disappointing but we can't hold him hostage and if we want we can sell him to the highest bidder. Nasri is looking after himself but he's not fucking us over.

On the other hand Cesc isn't doing his job now. Doesn't want to fulfil his contract and is stopping us from selling him for a fair market price.

I seriously fail to see how people think Nasri is worse than Cesc in this situation.

I wouldn't call him that 😆 but I I don't understand how there can be respect for a person who is captain of our club but willing to collude with the club who have mounted a consistent campaign to force us into a situation where we have little option but to sell him at a deflated price.

Cesc the player is fantastic, brilliant, don't want him to leave, but Cesc the person is a non entity in my eyes.
I have little time for him.

Nasri's just your average modern mercenary with an ego bigger than his talent.
He's getting more flak because he's not proved himself to the extent Cesc has nor is he as good a player.
We do have more control in his case though?
We can if we wish sell him to the highest bidder.

£22m? Not great considering it's City but given his contract situation it's as good as we're likely to get - unless United try to muscle in.

If this is genuine, and City do approach, we'll see just how determined and serious Wenger is about risking keeping Nasri without him having signed the new contract.
