They got £30m for Modric and they finished lower down the league this season than last.
Would not worry about what they will do with £50m

They'll achieve £50mill no problem, probably around the £60mill mark IMO, just remains to be seen if it is this season or next

If they get rid of bale, vertonghen & AVB they'll need to rebuild heavily but will have a lot of cash to spend sorting their problems out! They could sign 5 or 6 very good players with that money but it might put em back a season as it will take time for them to gel

The problem with Spurs is that off the pitch they are more than a decade behind us. We were top 4 every season with little money. They can't make Top 4 having spent net 80 million over the last 5 years. When they are cash strapped it's going to be much harder as we know.

Also with a new stadium to finance they might find their transfer budget is restricted. Though saying that they got Joe Lewis behind them to help pump some money in and the council want to bend over backwards to help them however they can, unlike our lovely council which fucked us sideways and screwed us over as much as they could when we were doing our stadium. Saying that by next summer with no CL football their revenue could be more than £100mill less per year, that is a huge difference. Also more down to past success & the large overseas & domestic fan base that helped us build and continuous involvement in the CL means we can attract big sponsors for example our Emirates and rumoured Puma deal, they haven't had any success and with limited CL exposure sponsors won't be so keen to pay them big money.

The cost of building a new stadium now will be much more than the cost was 8-10 years back.

Unless bought over by some sugardaddy, Tottenham should not bother us.

We need to invest in the squad though and we won't be looking over our shoulders again.

Vertonghen would have been extremely useful for us in DM, CB and LB. I am a big fan of his style of defender. Suits us perfectly.

I am of the opinion if we got our targets (Vertonghen and Mirallas), we would finish 2nd last year. Not sure why when we miss out on players we don't target another one, because we clearly pinpointed the weak links to strengthen.

If we'd really been in for Mirallas or Vertongen, they'd have joined Arsenal.

Mirallas want more game time, Vertonghen wants to be first choice CB which Wenger can't promise. Understandable.

If you believe them. I can't remember the last time we signed a player that didn't reject Spurs first.

Chelsea have signed Schurrle. Seems like the type of player they don't need so i'm not overly worried.

Schurrle looks set to complete his move to Chelsea. Seems like overkill and surely they will be looking to offload someone. Think De Bruyne is set for Dortmund but he wasn't ever really at Chelsea anyway. Ba? Torres? One of their bigger names in midfield?

He'll play LW probably, sub for hazard. It could mean Marin or Moses are going I guess.

De Bruyne is so much better than Schurrle. I hope they sell him permanently to Dortmund.

Schurrle is one truly baffling signing for Chelsea, in my opinion. Really don't see the sense in it.
