Redknapp's sacking was definitely about the England job. I don't know if any Levy soundbites made it out the door, but the papers were full enough of that story to believe it. And we all talked about how obvious his distraction was from January or so on. It was blatant - and reflected in the performances on the pitch I reckon.
The sacking will look a little preemptive in retrospect, as Spurs squad basically found its level at fourth, they just had a classic front-running season. If they were Arsenal they'd be a bit more used to being near the summit at Christmas, and fourth in May.
However, in AVB they've at least made a serious move, if not one to rely on. It's not like they've signed up a Christian Gross equivalent.
