No, I was saying that the middle eastern clubs will not be able to offer champions league football despite the wages if they were to go down the route of offering mega money to get bigger name players into their league. Eto'o and all of his success is more an exception than a rule; other players at his age will still want to be in the biggest competitions.

Ah, that's fair. Then my point stands. Players like Beckham and Henry who are superstars and have already won the Champions League can feel comfortable moving to regions that do not offer Champions League. Clearly with both Beckham and Henry there were other drawcards: Henry is in love with NY and the Beckhams potentially wanted to be close to Hollywood. But other regions can find compelling reasons as well, I'm sure

Beckham was probably mostly motivated by the insane package the Galaxy offered him. That was a $125m 5 year deal wasn't it?

Wolfsburg have signed Rasmus Jönsson apparently. They're getting a player with great potential there. Not too happy that Helsingborg lost both him and Alexander Gerndt in the same window, but at the same time they're clearly too good for the Swedish league. I expect great things from both of them.

Maths seems all right to me. £17500000 per season / p.a. ~= 17500000 / (365 * 24 * 60) per minute ~= £33.3 per minute he lives and breathes on that contract.

Chelsea said to be in for Meirelles as well as Modric. Villas-Boas seemed very unhappy with their inability to keep the ball and build play for long periods on Sunday so that will be two good signings. Get the feeling that McEachran may get a good few chances soon too.
