Oooops, wrong thread...

😆 Gets confusing sometimes on the phone!

Romelu Lukaku
I have an announcement to make... Next week i'm going to london for the medical tests! #chelsea... More news next week

Apparently it has been confirmed that's his real Twitter account. Don't think they really need him to be honest. Drogba, Torres, Anelka, Kalou and Sturridge. In fact Sturridge must be seething.

anelka's contract apparently expires next summer and drogba is 33 yrs old.

Lukaku doesn't seem like the kind of guy that's going to spend a season sitting on the bench, neither does Sturridge for that matter, and Anelka and Drogba, especially the latter, will be hard men to leave out of the team let alone match day squads.

lukaku is 18 and has proven nothing. he'll sit on the bench and be grateful for it.

You obviously haven't heard much about Lukaku's personality in that case. He's the sort that would moist likely put a transfer request if he's not in the team by Christmas! 😆

Javier Pastore has completed his move from Palermo to PSG for €42m. Pastore wears 27 and will be presented against Lorient this evening

Mental money.

PSG are starting from a very low base. I an understand why they are willing to pay anything. Hopefully, their project attracts Wenger in the near future

then they'll sell him. he might be a big fish in a small belgian pond, but at chelsea, he'll see how much he has to learn before he can claim a place ahead of the players you mentioned.

anyway, i'm not sure what your point is. lukaku is a twat, so chelsea have to indulge him? maybe we'd do that at arsenal lest we "kill" him, but i dont think chelsea will care. they'll do whatever they have to do to win, with lukaku or without. and if he is a dressing room cancer, great!

I'm just surprised they're going to pay big money for him at this point. Doesn't look like a world beater in the making, and they don't need him. I'm also surprised he wants to go there, basically, I think it's a stupid move all round.

But don't care enough to talk about it more. Like you I hope he does cause problems.

gotcha.

i worry that villas-boas is going to have chelsea playing some slick stuff this season. it wasn't too long ago that they scored over 100 goals in the league.

they've looked far from impressive in all the pre-season games I've seen. I believe they'll be grinding out wins rather than brushing teams aside easily- at least until he gets them playing whatever system he's got in mind for them.

Newcastle have signed Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United for £3m on a 5-year deal.

Wasn't he rated very highly by United fans?

Yup. Apparently the new Ronaldo by many of them.

Obertan could be one hell of a player some day with the right manager. Ferguson was the wrong person to get anything out of him though. You wouldn't expect someone like Alan Pardew to succeed either.

Just further proof of how hard it is to do what Wenger does with young players. It's alright buying them for £20M and turning them into first team players, ala Ferguson, but trying to buy them cheap (and usually very young) and getting first team players out of them is very, very difficult. Takes a lot of hard work and even more patience.

For a broke club, United sure have a lot of money to throw around

That'd take them up to the best part of £100M for this summer. Holy Christ.

😆

That's Ant and Dec as well (it actually is). They do all Newcastle's medicals.

he got plenty out of cronaldo and nani, not to mention giggs, beckham, scholes, butt, neville.

Point was that United aren't set up to benefit from someone like Obertan rather than Ferguson being inept at developing players. You have to ask why he wanted Obertan to begin with though. He's neither a typical ball-carrier or a second striker. I guess he figured that he'd be able to play off the wing like Ronaldo did.

Some bloke on Twitter is adamant Liverpool will announce the signing of Juan Mata at 17:30, they're saying on A-M that Sky Sports have just confirmed Liverpool have called a press-conference for 17:30.

@TransferSecrets Transfer Secrets
Big news - #LFC will announce they've agreed a deal to sign Juan Mata at 5:30pm.

@TransferSecrets Transfer Secrets
Fee believed to be €24m. #LFC #Mata

if non-liars on a-m are saying sky announced that liverpool will have a press conference at 5:30 then it could just as easily be to announce the signings of scott dann or enrique or both. they need to sell in order to buy dann, so i don't see how they would be able to afford mata. probably some rival fan taking the piss out of them. i just love these twitter accounts that pop up out of no where and their rumors then fly around in no time. brilliant.

This was complete bullshit, wasn't it. Gotta love Twitter people.

so did liverpool ever have that press conference or were they just lying little shits on a-m?

do liverpool even need another midfielder? they need defenders

There hasn't been a press conference in Liverpool today. No one else is reporting that they're going to sign Mata. The only recent rumour I can find connecting an attacking player to Liverpool at all is that they're supposedly close to signing Victorien Angban. He's a seventeen year old kid from Ivory Coast.

$32m per year? Would be mad not to do it. I wonder how soon it will be before Middle Eastern clubs start offering that kind of money to get players to play before empty stadiums on a warm Autumn evening.
