Except Borini aside their other 4 will look pretty handy. Too handy for any to not play. Even if you account for Suarez's suspension there is no way all 4 are going to be happy.

Even if Suarez is under rated, Bale is definitely over priced.

I don't quite understand Real. He isn't even going to make a major dent in merchandise sales. He is neither Beckham, nor is he Ronaldo who had a CL and 3 league titles when he moved apart from his goals.

I don't get it, or may be i am just biased and can't see how good Bale is because he is Tottenham. Real seem to be buying him for footballing reasons.

It's hard to get a handle on transfer fees this summer. Cavani £56m, Falcao £51m, Higuain £30m...everything being equal where would we put Bale and Suarez?

Dunno, transfers have been all over the place.

Gotze went for £35m and Gomez (who is in the Higuain sort of bracket in my opinion) went for something like £13m. There's still a dispute about Neymar's price which could be as high as £70m depending on who is correct.

I think in context Suarez fits in somewhere in between Falcao and Higuain. Wenger's valuation of 40m sounds right. Bale would probably be right around Cavani with all things being equal.

They are crazy. Bale is easy to take out of the game with the right attention. He's not got the technical nous you'd expect for that fee

It's also very political. The madridistas want Bale - they chanted his name at the unveiling of Illaramendi and Perez wants to deliver that shiny new toy to them. The interest is understandable if Ronaldo keeps rejecting their offers for a new contract aswell but a world record bid for Gareth Bale is still outrageous.

Cannon, i have never understood the whole sports extravagance vs social welfare debate. why do we always point to salaries and transfer fees in sports as though that is money that would automatically go towards job creation and other development? football has money because fans and billionaires choose to pour their hard-earned money into the sport. you're part of the madness.

But seriously Cannon, things don't work like that in the real world- Look at the budget for military spending in the USA a country with no universal healthcare system and many pockets of poverty and deprivation, and thats nothing compared with the likes of China India and Pakistan, huge spending for national prestige while most live in 3rd world conditions.

Waste inefficiency and contradiction thats always been the human condition.

What about banks giving grants and waivers to the club? It isn't simply about wages, salaries and transfer fees.

Anyways, Spanish football is a shambles.
