100 million, 1 billion? Why is it ridiculous?
PSG, Madrid, Monaco and City have unlimited budgets. It's different from us - a listed entity with finite resources and legal responsibilities to protect our shareholders' money.
Doesn't really matter what they bid. If they can scrounge together the money, let them.

I must have missed that. Soldado is a dream signing for them. One of the most clinical strikers in europe, which is what they lacked last year. Even after selling Bale, I would say they have a better squad than last year marginally, and they are still looking to buy, not to mention they will have loads of money after selling.

100m is a ridiculous price, for a footballer who was deemed as a jinx just 3 seasons ago. Is there ever a more ironic rise in football? Spurs fan can stop dreaming about any swap move, which idiot would go from Madrid to Spurs from their current squad?

So if Spurs sell Bale, the player who was the absolute key to their relative success last season, they will be marginally stronger?
What about the number of games that missing link pulled out of the bag for them?
The unlikely, downright freakish and annoying number of last ditch goals?
They won't replace that easily - that's why Madrid are dying for him.
Remove him from the team and they are going to struggle big time to replace his influence on results.

The money being spoken about for him is stupid money but players who did what he did for Spurs last season are not readily available or replaceable.
He may never replicate that form again but that's not really the point.

I think Soldado is a good striker but not that brilliant but we will see.

I think it's in their best interests to hold on to Boyo.

They'll have a better chance to make the CL with him. If they can crack the top 4 this season with him and then sell him they'd be able to attract better players with the money they make from his sale.

If i were in their shoes i'd rather sell him for 60 mill next year after qualifying for the CL than getting 80 mill for him this year and being in Europa. No matter how much they get for him, not being in the CL is going to limit the sort of player they can get.

Obviously it's a risk though and they could end up missing out on the CL next year and selling him for less.

Apparently, Tottenham have activated Soldado's release clause. If this news is true, then, this could be important for Suarez transfer. Either Liverpool could panic and look to do the same for Soldado as well (I doubt he'll choose them over the cocks anyway) in which case they might want a quick resolution on Suarez.

Or if Soldado is gone, they might find it difficult to find themselves another good striker who'd want to go to them and they can get. Demba Ba (if Rooney deal is done) and Adebayor are two names I can think of, in the Premier League.

Also, it shocks me that Tottenham spend close to 50 million (must be over 35-40 mil net) in a summer after they have not qualified for Champions League if this goes through. Can they really do this without selling Bale? What I was hoping for was to Liverpool to see a window of opportunity when Totts do not have cash for Soldado and go in for him before Real can agree a fee for Bale.

Majority of that is covered by the income from the new TV deal.

That's why even teams from the lower half of the table are spending big money this summer.

...oh and being financially doped also helps.

There were rumours Liverpool were interested in Jackson Martinez.

Liverpool have done nothing in this window to suggest they are ready to move up a level, probably because they need cash from Suarez's sale to do so. Mkhtirayan also preferred Dortmund over them. They will not panic at all, they will try and get the maximum for him and we will pay it.

Napoli seem to be after Jackson Martinez. In any case, it'd surprise me if he wants to leave Porto for Liverpool. There is a lot of talk about Liverpool setting up a deadline for Suarez because they'd need some time to get new players. Depending on the kind of options they have identified, I see the deal being made or broken around that deadline period. I doubt, they'll sell Suarez on the last day of the window.

This will be sorted one way or the other in the next two weeks i guess.

Since Suarez is banned it makes little difference for us whether we get him tomorrow or on transfer deadline day. Personally, I wish someone else came in and bought him tomorrow. Get this idiotic idea out of Wenger's head so he can focus on other targets.

It isn't about if he can start the season for us, but, the chance that in waiting we might end up with no striker other than Giroud after the window.

The Higuain price seems fair now. Soldado will cost about GBP 26 Million.

The market simply doesn't make any sense, so distorted.

The availability is not the issue though - I'd guess that as usual Wenger is intent on buying quality at the right price - the difference this time around is that he's willing to increase drastically the amount that he's willing to spend.
Problem is that his range of targets is probably limited to just the one.
Like it or not he apparently thinks Suarez is £40m plus worth of quality, I would not be at all sure that he'd be willing to invest anything related to that kind of money in another striker (as our abandoning of Higuain proved).
We talk about Michu, Benteke etc on here but I'd be willing to bet that Wenger would see £20m or so for either of them as a rip off.
