Personally, I never really noticed any great discrepency in his domestic and Champions league performances.

And internationally he was comfortably England's best player for his first 40 odd caps until he got foisted out on the left by Sven.

Exactly. Up against the best of the best he was constantly outshone in Europe, and was often anonymous against classy midfields. He was unable to impose himself when United couldn't monopolise the tempo like they did domestically. He didn't exactly underperform, but his function in the United team never really translated well on the continent imo. Veron outshone him in Europe despite being a total domestic flop.

He's like a bad smell.

Don't want City to win the league though so I don't mind this too much.

To be fair they went through December like this;

Villa (A) 1-0
Wolves - 4-1
QPR (A) - 2-0
Fulham (A) - 5-0
Wigan (H) - 5-0
Blackburn - 2-3

United win a lot. And they've gone into second half of the season mode. Scholes has helped, but I've seen him play 5 or so times, and he hasn't been outstanding in any of them.

That's not Scholes. That's Sir Alex and United's money at work. That's a winning combination right there.
