Looking forward to another Ashes series. I like the idea of Carberry. He deserves the chance and could do the kind of job Australia want Rogers to do for 2 or 3 years while Root becomes consistent at test level. Thought the last series was too early to move him up when he was finding his feet at 6 and am in favour of him moving back to 6 in place of Bairstow for this series. Still think Compton was pretty harshly dealt with though. 2 failed tests in a row which were preceded by back to back hundreds and that's the end of his test career. Seemed he just didn't fit and there was something about his personality they didn't like.

Conditions will suit Cook and Trott so expecting them to rack up some runs this time.

An emotional two days of cricket, especially the two sessions that saw Tendulkar at the crease.

It was an emotional stadium, haven't felt like this in a long time, even the World Cup doesn't match it I think.

It was fitting that Tendulkar walked back to the dressing room after his wicket one last time on the 15 November 2013, exactly 24 years after he walked out to the center for the first time on 15 November 1989.

He is the greatest servant of the game ever and unites this country like no one else does.

The entire stadium called for a declaration, cheered every WI appeal and celebrated each Indian wicket that fell in a hope to see Tendulkar once again. It was surreal.

India win by an innings and 126 and that's that for Tendulkar. 79 runs short of 16,000 which is a bit of a shame.

Great player and great send off for the legend. Really should hit more centuries in his time funnily enough, so many times he got into the 90s but 100 is enough 😉

Really humble person, I think a lot of Indian cricketers could learn a lot off him in that respect.

Would you guys be intimidated by the haka if you were facing the team performing it?

Not so much by the haka itself, but if you have to play the All Blacks - you are in trouble from a sporting point of view.

I played a team that did the haka once, it wasn't particularly intimidating.

Obviously the all blacks are a different story, and probably would be quite intimidating.

Yes Patters, watched all 3 days. It was very emotional. Moist eyes across the stadium when he gave his post match thank you speech. Very rarely can it be said about a sportsman that he is greater than the game. Tendulkar is though for India.

There were greats before him and there will be greats after but another Tendulkar there will be none.

Ashes starts again today. Feels strange to have come around again after only a couple of months.

Any thoughts on whats ahead?

From our perspective, I like the thought of Root returning to 6 where he started so well and can find some consistency at this level. The last series was too soon to move him up to opening and the Aussie new ball bowlers would feel they can get him early. Carberry deserves a chance based on his last year or 2 and I guess the idea is that he does the sort of job Australia want Chris Rogers to do for a couple of years or so and then promote Root. The number 6 spot was a bit of a problem in the last series so it feels more solid with Root there. Prior could be a big loss, ont just in his wicket keeping but also his leadership. The main concern for me is the third fast bowler. Sounds like they are going to go with Tremlett first, based mostly on what he did in Australia 3 years ago. Still don't really understand why they don't seem to like Onions.

Conditions should suit Cook and Trott as they did 3 years ago so have no doubts they will both be back in the runs. Confident we can hold onto it but think the matches will be a lot closer than the last series. Will go for an optimistic 3-1 predicition.

Reckon it'll be a tight series, not quite got the enthusiasm for it yet, but will prob get in to it after a couple of days.

Australia are really not very good. They've got only 2 good batsmen - Clarke and Bailey. And the bowling attack must be their worst of all time. Mitchell Johnson is somewhat on the way up, showing even more pace these days which may make him a slight threat but Siddle is just a disgusting shortarse trundler and Faulkner, Harris, Lyon are garbage options.

Anderson, Broad, Finn and Swann is the best bowling attack at the moment. Cook, Pietersen and Bell are top class batsmen, and Root and Prior are crap to watch but usually good for a 50.

3-0 England. Top runscorer: Cook. Top wicket taker: Anderson.

Australia win the toss and bat first. Tremlett does indeed play and Prior has made it.

Looks a stronger Australian side than what started the last series. Am concerned about whether Tremlett is up to it. Don't understand why they don't seem to like Onions who would have been my pick, but would have gone for Finn over Tremlett from this squad. That's me off the updates now, looking forward to getting home in about 4 hours to watch from the start.

I was raised on Test cricket as a wonderful team sport where, with notable exceptions for dramatic impact, you watched for a few days and at the end of the process the team you supported won either thumpingly or heroically.

Can't say I'm too keen on this new-fangled modern form of the game, where you watch your team see out another demoralising loss and then put up with panels of wankers dissecting their technical and psychological failings.

I never did get the fascination with cricket. I guess you would have to have grown up with it to fully appreciate it.
