For what it's worth I agree with you about Steffi Graf. But that pretty much fits with my general feeling that tennis went into a sharp decline by the mid 90s.

Saying Bartoli's win is poor for women's tennis, or something like that, can't be seen as anything other than trying to take something away from her win though...

Nah, I still pay a bit of attention. Think we've got fuck all chance of winning the Ashes in England, I'd say we'd be lucky to win one Test. But we might stand an outside chance of taking them back in the return series.

Graf had a dignity and quality that fit the women's game for equality with the men's, but then she was followed by the likes of Seles and Hingis and it just wasn't quite the same from there on in.

I loved Graf. After her women's tennis became a power game. Nothing wrong with it but earlier it had more guile and technique, i enjoyed watching it more then.

Seles never really got back to the physical standard she had prior to that attack.
