I just returned from UFC 139. It's probably the best live sporting event I have ever attended. 5 wonderful, varied competitive fights culminating in the main event: a half hour epic of punching, kicking and grappling. Having seemed destined for an early and painful defeat in the first two rounds, a blood- drenched Shogun survived submission holds and almost certain knockout punches to wrest control for the last two rounds.
In the end, both men, spent, traded punches but we're unable to land a telling blow. A judges' decision seemed an inadequate conclusion but fairly awarded the fight 48-47 to Henderson. Privileged to have attended a fight that will surely be replayed frequently on sports networks for years to come.
