RocktheCasbah I'm pretty sure Seville came last because he didn't stick his head forward, otherwise he was right up there. He beat Noah in the semi too and was one of the favourites. Incredible race. I like Lyles, its good to have some showmanship in running again. And his mocking of NBA players for wearing World Champion hats was brilliant. Seems a great advocate for athletics too, he's already talking about how they don't get they hype other sports stars do. Winning the 100m at the Olympics gives him even more fuel for that.

Qwiss Yeah, completely agree. Lyles seems quite extravagant and aggressive, but I hear him speak and think he comes across well and, ultimately, he's right - athletics needs people with main character energy. I loved his entrance. As you say, though, it's one thing to talk the talk, you gotta be able to walk the walk. And he definitely did that last night.

In related news, I've just seen that Molly Caudery learned no lessons from getting knocked out of the Diamond League meet in London early last week and has failed to qualify for the Pole Vault final. I'm looking forward to watching Keely Hodgkinson in the 800 final tonight - I'm getting Jess Ennis 2012 vibes about her, hopefully I'm not reading the tea leaves wrong!

When I said Jess Ennis vibes, I didn't realise Keely is the first British woman to win athletics gold at the Olympics since Jess. She made it look pretty routine too, buzzing for her.

Anyone watch Djokovic Alcaraz? One of the greatest tennis matches of the last 5 years.

I’ve never been a fan of Djokovic (mainly because I’m a Nadal guy) but I got to put my hands up and acknowledge his greatness.

Might have to admit he’s the GOAT esp now he’s completed the career grand slam which even Federer hasn’t achieved.

Sicario2 yeah was a great game but Djokovic just has the mental edge in the tie breaks.

Nadal, Djokovic and Federer have all achieved career grand slams. Djokovic has achieved the Golden Slam which Federer hasn't - although technically Federer won gold in 2008 but in doubles.

Djokovic is the GOAT though - surpassed all limits even though I've always preferred watching Federer.

I know different genders and different times, but it's crazy to think something that's taken Novak Djokovic his entire career to achieve was managed in one year by a 19 year old Steffi Graf.

RocktheCasbah amazing performance and well deserved after all those silvers in a row. Was thinking how much my Dad would have enjoyed the race, and actually been thinking of him for every event and British success at these games. Him, my brother and I supported 3 different rival teams so watching football together was a always a tense and often unpleasant affair growing up. Things like Olympics and World Cups hold special memories for me as they were only times we supported the same people together. I watched the Ennis/Farah day by myself as was grown up and living in a different city by then, but watching Hodgkinson this morning had me thinking back 20 years to when we all watched Kelly Holmes together.

RocktheCasbah her 1993 final against Jana Novotna is still one of my GOAT moments in sports. I was a young fella but even then could understand that this was someone imposing their will on an inferior creature.

That was an incredible watch, I had a VHS of that final for years afterwards. I still get goosebumps thinking of it. She was dead and buried - and then she wasn't. Real Roy of the Rovers stuff, but with tennis.

the haters are just doing that out of habit for him always coming up small for the sixers in the playoffs. he was a boss today when the team needed him the most. if he doesn't pick the USA lebron is hearing LEBRONZE again.

in fairness, hes always hurt in the playoffs, and even then he usually ends a series in the plus, with the team minus a billion in his minutes on the bench. being a sixers fan is pure torture
