That is indeed the same Alireza Firouzja who was involved in the controversy in the world blitz. When I say controversy the ruling was a standard one, Alireza ran out of time on the clock and despite being material up, Carlsen could technically give mate given the material left on the board and was given the win. Of course the rules state that if the player with time left on the clock had no possible way to give mate, the game is declared a draw. It was just the nature of the position when Firouzja flagged, it was not immediately obvious to either player or the arbiter Carlsen could actually still give mate, which is a rare occurance. And therefore giving the world champion the win after a couple minutes of deliberation naturally seems fishy to the casual spectator.
