That interview was gold. I paraphrase:

Very compelling first set of the Women’s Final in Australia. Naomi grew into the set as it progressed and started showing more athleticism and less anxiety. Petra is so powerful and able to move her from side to side. Naomi up 7-6 (7-2).

Osaka becomes first player to win her second major immediately after winning her first since Capriati in 2001. Remarkable. She has so much heart. Fell apart in 2nd set and then came back to finish the job. She’s amazing but you also feel that there is so much more potential. She can work her opponents laterally more, get a little stronger, and reduce unforced errors. But brilliant.

Bit of a see saw match, not very many instances where both were matching each other.

Isn't that irrelevant? I don't watch much tennis these days, but even if Nadal doesn't have the mental edge over Federer now he'd still be far ahead H2H because he had it so long.

I would take Nadal over Fed in the mental edge category.

The last time Nadal beat Federer was five years ago. In sport that is an eternity. Since then Federer have beaten him five times including a major final. What mental edge he used to have is surely gone by now.

When they are both retired Nadal will no doubt be considered Federers toughest matchup. That doesn't mean in the last couple of years Federer didn't have the better of him.

It was so weird and strange watching federer stretching and unable to reach balls to return from young players in early rounds. Wonder if he's just delaying the retirement becos of his recent deal with Uniqlo. I suppose we'll know more at Wimbledon.

20-17-15 now, should be 20-18-15 by mid june.
