I think it's pretty much an open secret that top footballers and their clubs have doping programs. No one wants to admit it but it's the reality.

Performance enhancing drugs saturate every sport where there's serious money involved, in my opinion.

I think steroids are widespread in football. The biggest mistake people make is that they think athletes take steroids primarily for gaining muscle, when it is in fact the ability to recover much faster which is the game changer of the course of a long, grueling season. And the season after that. And the season after that. Personally, I'm convinced Alexis is on drugs btw.

I'm not a big Usain Bolt fan but that was depressing to see happen in his last race.

It was, his body completely gave up.

That said he was not prepared for these Championships and it would seem it was more about a last hurrah and filling the stadium than any serious work towards winning two golds.
Which is fine too.

I don't mean not a fan as in I dislike him, I'm just not that into athletics. Sad to see him not finish his last race though.

Mcgregor as expected was no match for Mayweather. Incredibly fast reflexes for a 40-year-old.

Watched the fight too. What a massive mismatch. After about 5 rounds, once McGregor had expended all his energy early on, Floyd went to work. McGregor was like a dummy in the final seconds as Floyd punched the life out of him

I walked past a pub in town half an hour ago and watched one round—not sure which round it was.

After I saw an action replay of McGregor and Mayweather each punching each other at the same time, I walked out. It was like they were in different timelines.

That result is kind of ideal for everyone isn't it. Like if they'd all sat down before the fight and said OK what sort of outcome would everyone be ok with thats what would have happened.

I hope you're not suggesting that an exhibition boxing mismatch such as this could have been fixed Qwiss!

Doubt it was fixed. Played out pretty much as one might have expected. McGregor came out with early ferocity hoping to take the champ down early, but he eventually wore himself out. And then Mayweather just turned him into a rag doll thereafter. McGregor is lucky that May's punches don't have tons of power behind them. In that final round he landed so many clean shots. If they were a class or two heavier, McGregor would've been in ICU.

I'm bothered by Sharapova being gifted a place in the US Open and it goes against what the wildcard system was intended for IMO. I accept she has done her time and served the ban and is now free to compete but I feel she should be required to qualify and earn her place like everyone else rather than be rewarded with it.

Going back to the discussion on Gatlin the other week I'm not particularly fond of someone with 2 drug cheating convictions being allowed into The Olympics and World Championships at all but I understand he was at least required to achieve the qualifying standard and win through the trials rather than being handed a place over others with clean histories.
