Of course it isn't in MMA, I'm saying it is in pugilism and related sports. Often enough in the UFC the actual "fight" doesn't start until one of them manages to throw the opponent to the ground. For me personally it's not a fight when you're beating on someone who's lying on the ground, in many cases you'll see a fighter getting smashed in the face several times before the ref ends the bout.

I've never seen a boxing match either where the opponent didn't get smashed in the face several times before the ref stopped the fight either. 🙂

I get your point but mine was moreso that going to ground is a common tactic in UFC/MMA and not necessarily the case that the person is about to cop a beating. Yes that does happen but it's one of the key things that sets it apart from other fighting 'sports' where it's explicitly against the rules.
Anyway, I don't really have any interest in defending UFC!

I really hate the pre-match circus. I don't know if it's because the athletes are clowns or they just have to do it to provide entertainment and drum up interest. Does the opposite for me.

how about them Warriors? they were trying to pull an Arsenal with an invincible season. fell short at 24 wins. an incredible achievement. at 24-1, they are in good shape to beat the Bulls' 72-10 record set in the Jordan era. of course it will be hard. now they have injuries, and at some point they need to start preparing for the post-season, and that might mean sacrificing some regular season wins

I like McGregor and was, seriously worried he would struggle in this fight.
That KO surprised me up and i think he won the fight in the build up as Aldo lost his mind in more ways than one.
His brashness has made him so many enemies, twitter will go to town when he loses.

Weird game between OKC and the Cavs. No team having any consistency, all about runs. LeBron absolutely flattened a poor girl too going out of bounds. Best seats in the house also proved to be most dangerous seats in the house.

But yeah, that had got to hurt. 113 kg flying directly into your face and landing on top.

OKC is very disappointing. They should be playing much better basketball given the players they have. No chance of winning the Championship if they don't improve dramatically.

It will be interesting to see what Cavs do once they get Kyrie back. They'll probably beat Indiana in the Eastern Conf. finals and reach the NBA Finals again. I reckon they still don't have enough to beat a healthy GSW/Spurs over seven games, but they will give a much better go with Kyrie back, no doubt.

NBA is in a pretty good place these days with a more even distribution of talent than 3-5 years ago.

Golden State Warriors is some team! Can't remember when I last saw a player as complete as Draymond Green, Curry is on fire, and they just have so many guns. Must be well weird for both Luke Walton and Steve Kerr too. How is Kerr going to come back with the start GSW has had?!

Guess we all know where Stan Kroenke's money is going now.

He's building a $1.86 billion dollar stadium and moving his NFL team to Los Angeles, which is the closest big city next to me.

A team moving cities seems bizarre but I gather it's not uncommon in US sports. So what do you after they move if you've supported them as your home team? My cousins in LA are happy as they have never really got into NFL due to having no team to support (their big things have been the Lakers and Dodgers). One of them has just posted on Facebook "can't wait for football after 20 years!" Ridiculous that a major city didn't have a team.

I feel bad for the fans in St. Louis, but the NFL is really driven by money. It doesn't help that Kroenke basically said that staying put would be severely detrimental to their team.

I don't think the Rams were making much money (and the city didn't want to build his team a new stadium) and the Rams actually were in Los Angeles 20 years ago. I think Kroenke sees this a money making opportunity if anything else.

The Chargers and Raiders also wanted to move to LA because their home cities also refused to help them pay for new stadiums and their current stadiums are outdated. The Chargers have the option to join the Rams in LA, but now they can leverage for more public support from San Diego.

I think this is the most love Kroenke has ever recieved from his teams. I don't think any Arsenal fan would do this for him!
