😆 Yeah, felt the need to do some light trolling. Also, anyone who thinks the Swedish football league is football needs their head checked. It is absolutely dreadful. Can't for the life of me quite get my head around that we generally beat England every time we play them. #banter

Overall record is England 9, Sweden 7, Draws 9. This century (for recent history) it's England 2, Sweden 2, Draws 3. Every time?

Anyway, unbelievable first day yesterday. Best day I've ever seen from England and that first session in particular would have to go straight into my top 5 all time sporting memories. The partnership between Root and Bairstow was special too. Really happy for Bairstow to make runs having been on the scrapheap like Finn. Looked comfortable and showed why he averages 100 this season. Felt sorry for him to get out so late in the day, a first test hundred was on offer there. We have to go on and win this match now for yesterday to mean anything. At the moment it seems hard to believe we won't, but anything can happen.

Haha decided to Google it for the sake of it. I remembered a few draws in qualifying and a couple of World Cups (2002 and 2006 I think) and remember beating you at the last Euros when Theo came on and scored with his first touch but couldn't remember a loss other than the friendly when Ibrahimovic scored that ridiculous goal.

Absolutely overjoyed to have won the Ashes. Obvious from my posts but its my other big sporting passion so this is probably equivalent to Arsenal winning the league for me. There was a time growing up when I didn't think I'd get to see England win the Ashes in my lifetime. This is now the 5th for me and by far the most unexpected.

Amazing turnaround from the 13-14 whitewash, shambolic World Cup and everything else over the last 18 months. I thought we'd get trashed in this series. As much as I tried to stay positive after Lord's I thought I thought we were probably going to lose 4-1 from there. Interesting to see where Australia go from here. Clarke and Rogers gone, surely Haddin and Watson too. Voges too possibly. The Marsh brothers don't look test level players. Could be a very different team for their next series

Wow I feel honoured to be the target of a famous Tony Montana question!
The main reason is that when my family moved to Oz when I was a kid, I used to cop heaps of shit for being a pom. So my natural response was to wear it with pride. This was also at a time when (similar to what Invis was saying) the English cricket team was regularly getting beaten by the Aussies, which just made me dig my heals in even more. It also helps that for the most part the Aussie cricket team have shown (with a few exceptions) to be a pretty unlikable bunch of tossers. And finally...I just love the banter!

Apologies for the "you" comment again Daz, I didn't realise you were English originally. Same reason why I have always supported England and never NZ in anything. Moved here when I was 7 but have always been a "pom." Still never bothered to get NZ citizenship ether, just permanent residency. There's no advantage to getting it unless I wanted to move to Australia (since NZ citizens can live and work there indefinitely).

With it only being between 2 teams of course England were going to win it eventually. But like so many Arsenal fans today only know of life with Wenger, getting interested in cricket in the mid 90s and growing up supporting England meant getting thrashed by Australia was all I knew so the thought of England winning the Ashes one day was not conceivable to me. After winning the league unbeaten I certainly didn't think I'd get to see England win the Ashes 5 times before we won the league again!

Also you will be disappointed to be informed that most people in England not from Yorkshire and Lancashire still don't give that much of a toss about cricket or the Ashes.

Yeah have probably corrected that a few times. I know those are traditionally the big cricket counties but would still think there is interest throughout the rest of the country. It wouldn't disappoint me though, doesn't really matter to me who is or isn't interested.

Anyone watching Bolt versus Gatlin? On at 1415. I'm looking forward to it. Don't think Bolt can beat the American, Gatlin looked ridiculously quick in his semi final, whilst Bolt ran it like an amateur. Wouldn't put it past the great man to pull something special out of the bag though....

Remember everyone saying that either at the last world championships, or at the Olympics. The guy is just superb and whilst it is possible the BBC may have gone overboard with how they covered it yesterday, it's difficult to imagine anyone outside of Gatlin's camp wanted him to win.

I find the notion of a two time doper running faster than ever before at the age of 33 highly suspect.

Also, properly, properly deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelighted for this person. A real champion and class act all round.
