Definitely need some action in the attack in the Jan window otherwise our first choice forward line will be on there knees come Feb time.

If we can solve the CF or LW position in Jan would be great... Ideally ship Gyok out in Jan as he probably still has some value and bring in a striker who can play footy to share the load with Kai.

We need a left winger in January. I think Eze is a really good 10 but yesterday when Tzolis was struggling I looked at the game and could see that bringing Eze on was unlikely to do much. He's alright out there if we are dominating the game but when its physical and bitty like yesterday you want something different. That was a Martinelli game.

was it though? low blocks have never really been a martinelli game. and last year it was a leo game. despite some struggles, tzolis had some actions that were key to penetrating that low block and creating chances.

Meatwad Martinelli and Leo were both better in these physical sorts of games. Tzolis had some moments but was mostly out of the game. Its the sort of match where Martinelli or Trossard would have dropped deep and picked the ball up in our own half more. Anyway this issue isn't Tzolis, its that there is no one to rotate with him.

Tzolis had a decent game I thought - much improved after the Villa performance. I think it clicked for him that we get no space or protection away from home so he just has to get on with it

Marti would have struggled. We needed a version of Madueke on the LW - physically powerful, able to take the game to defenders and ensure 1-2 of them always stay with him to de-congest the rest of the field.

and citeh have shown that you can get 80m ( (should include brazilian clubs in this as well not just the argentinian ones) even if they aren't starting for you and other clubs want them.

SimplyTheBest except the game has changed. The £25m prospects are just as likely to go bust as they are to boom. So you need lots of them. The prices that teenagers like Bouadi are going for means there is a very narrow gap in identifying standout talent. Probably no gap in England. All the big clubs are hanging around every academy, enticing parents with illegal gifts

It's a highly speculative strategy - like trying to find the next 1trn company that's currently a penny stock. People only remember the winners but forget all the losers. Just look at our track record in South America. Martinelli had been our biggest hit (for a youth talent) but we have had a number of failures. I'm not against it but I don't expect it to be highly successful.

that's about right for the waters we were fishing in. the less you spend the more failures you get. spend like citeh on south american talent and you end up with better talent that you can either use for your benefit or sell on for a profit.

We should go down the Wenger route and play our 10s like Ethan and Max out there and let them roam. Sick of these guys who dribble into dead ends.

Football managers have the most precarious job in the world and fans want them to risk their jobs by playing raw young kids who are highly inconsistent and their performances swing wildly. The notion that if they're good enough, they are old enough is absolute crap. The question isn't about their quality, it's about their consistency and young players just don't have that. It's easy to want kids to play when you have nothing to lose from your arm chair. It's obviously completely different for managers who will be in the grinder after 3 bad results.

On Endrick - I've not watch a whole lot of him but I'm not sure he suits the lone striker role and I suspect that's his biggest issue. Looks like someone better suited to a front two.
