This will get done around £100m + add ons. Agree that Arteta sees him as the Rice signing for our attack. Same age as Rice was when he joined too. He looks comfortable out on the left hopefully it works out. If not he will re-purpose him I'm sure.

Personally, I am a big fan and I'm sure he still has room for improvement too.

I am genuinely more intrigued by Christos Tzolis than either Morgan Rogers or Julian Alvarez. The 4-1 game against City broke Arteta's brain and he hasn't been able to repair it. 🙁

he's basically a diet yaya toure. its interesting because he brings midfield qualities we dont have, but we'd have to re-shape some midfied roles to accomodate him in his best position

it wouldn't be an arteta transfer window without a major signing with an air of positional mystery about it

I could usually figure out why Arteta wants certain players. This one, no idea. Maybe a wildcard to let loose everywhere on the pitch to steamroll through mid-blocks and take a shot from distance vs low blocks.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert I'd vote for getting rid. Every year he continues playing the way he has been diminishes his value, both functionally in terms of his value on the pitch and financially. If his WC performances have put any sheen on him as a player whatsoever or another manager believes he will be better off in their system, I'd vote for getting rid. We need 2 (ideally 3) of Martinelli, Eze, Jesus, Madueke out of the club this summer - all sub-par players who are occupying valuable squad places and blocking capital. Let's bring in someone like Godts (who may actually develop over time) or move Madueke over to the left (while I would love for him to be out, I highly doubt that) to stretch teams.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert No one seems to be apart from some loose links to Sp*rs. Initially, it felt like he was set for PSG but that seems to have fallen away. All I can think of is unreasonable demands from the player / agents and clubs have given up on dealing with his entourage.

Bernard Woolley there has never really been a lack of interest in Martinelli. Quite recently Bayern were sniffing around for him.

Burnwinter I don't think he'd be great as an 8 for us unless it was against weak opposition. A bit like the rarely seen Eze/Ode midfield.

Mirth Kroupi, Rogers, Tzolis, Alvarez - all players linked with our LW who are central / central-leaning and don't really stay wide and create width. This feels like it is by design rather than oversight. Maybe the aim is for Hincapie to provide width or interchange with Gyokeres.

I still worry the attack will have no true outlet in those game states that necessitate one, though.

Seems to me Rogers could also be used at left 8 in our system, much as Trossard has been at times. That's got some potential benefits: rest Rice more, maybe use Rice at 6, maybe Rogers on the left with Zubimendi or Merino on the right and slightly less advanced, maybe emphasise the left over the right for a change.

With everything I know of Rogers my concern is he lacks weapons: seems he's just another versatile and durable elite athlete with a decently well-rounded football skillset. In other words Rogers seems a fairly typical Arteta player and no doubt will be useful ... but when are we going to sign just one more player who's got Ødegaard's next level of technique and intelligence? Trossard's departure alone is going to hit our overall football acumen pretty hard.

Burnwinter I agree, our recruiting really worries me. Rogers is a good player but his career so far is mainly built on heavy xG overperformance. I don't think he will hit 10 bangers from distance every season and I'm not sure the rest of his game is good enough to make up for it. I would much rather get an elite technician like Kroupi.
