RowJimmy I don't really believe in the concept of being overpriced in modern football. It's all just accounting, in the end. Your budget is what you're willing to spend, not how much you actually have. We can make 140m on Barcola work no problem, I'd wager. Who else do we actually need to buy, anyway? It's not unlimited money, but it certainly isn't a simple ledger, either. As meatwad demonstrated, there are always workarounds.

There are three options for martinelli

Extend his contract at a huge cost - 240/250k for 4-5 years etc making him less sellable in the future
Sell now for 60m
Sell with one year left at 30-40m

Now again the club can't be in the business of constantly letting players go on a free or reduced fees despite how may people wanted us to keep trossard

The alternative then becomes selling academy players which gets people angrier

Ideally madueke should leave but irrespective we need to upgrade on both martinelli and madueke

Club is keeping it's card close to it's chest, let's see what they end up with

£60m is a good fee for Marti but we better replace him. Attack is weaker with him and Tross out and only Tzolis in. I expect them to sign another attacker now.

This might indeed be a good reason to be cautious with Barcola because he's not the finished thing and we got burned badly on Pepe once upon a time. Then again the risk will be the same next summer unless we think there's going to be some sure thing on the market.

The question comes down to whether the club wants to roll a dice or not, because otherwise we've already bet on Tzolis and we might as well back that horse, the bloke is clearly good.

Klaus funny thing is Pepe was way more impressive in Ligue 1 than Barcola has been.

At this stage I'd be happy with Tzolis and Martinelli but if there's £60m on the table that complicates matters. The question then is can Eze work on the left?

Personally I love Barcola - I would bring him here in a heartbeat, but I get the concerns

Tzolis being good shows there are good players out there who don’t cost 140m, if you have recruitment people who will actually work for their money instead of watching last year’s CL highlights on repeat.

Gurgen I think so too, and I think there are two different factions inside the club: one of them is the coaching team who want to blow 100 million on Rogers and another 90-100 million on Alvarez. The other is Berta and Micheli who feel they can get value by signing lads like Tzolis.

I'm a big fan of Barcola's talent but I think we made our choice when it comes to the left wing, and there have been no credible rumours at all about Barcola to Arsenal after PSG announced the price tag.

People have reservations about Tzolis but the risk is the same with Barcola; the question is just how the club values their respective talent.
