For the kind of team we are, we actually might have scored too early for our own good. We went into a shell from an attacking sense and in terms of intent. It is sometimes hard to break free then especially on an occasion as big as this. That said, like I mentioned in the match thread, to me we looked really comfortable.

What could have been eh. Odegaard and Trossard were very disappointing for me. When I saw the Gyok, Martinelli, Madueke frontline I knew we weren't scoring.

Think the ref got annoyed with all our taking our time by the 2nd half and just decided he wasn't gonna give us any 50:50s including the penalty.

Yes, and the individual action that they have for sure. Then you have to get into the competition with all the squad available in every moment, each player. We have had many more players than last season but not all of them in that condition for different reasons. That's something that we have to improve on as well.

Most interesting part of his press conference, we don't have enough match winners in our attack and I think he knows this.

The team needs to be boosted and a few players who've helped us but we need to go beyond them now. In attack we still lack reliable threat and goals and that's got to be the priority and shipping out a few of the other forwards who cannot do that.

The champions League defeat hurts because we aren't a great European team we don't get those opportunities regularly and we are not very good at maximizing them.

To progress Arteta will need to be brave and creative enough to sign and use intuitively excellent forwards in a way that relies on their intuitive excellence not their coachability. To coach a stronger attack he'll need to learn the aspect of management at which Wenger most excelled and for which Wenger was at times most criticised: accessing "player intelligence". In that light I think Eze was the right type of signing, but still probably not the right signing. Calafiori and Skelly are the type.

If it's another summer of centre halves and top drawer role-players I don't reckon we'll find another level.

Burnwinter yep this is the test for him bag he evolve as a manager. We focused on that very controlled style all players having defensive responsibilities and following detailed instructions and I understand it to an extent while trying to land the title. But now we need to show something more and as you said bring in some players who don't follow the mould and fire Arteta to allow some of them more freedom as attackers.

I would be very disappointed if we do just look to recruit more defenders and hard work players as I agree we aren't changing the level with those signings.

JazzG he has do an inverse pep, who had to add size and robustness to his technically dominant man city teams in order to get to a new level. mikel has mastered the robust/rugged side of the game, and needs to add the technical wizardry without sacrificing too much of the solidity he's built. it not an easy task in front of him

Important to sell well this summer-

Kepa can go but I think he'll stay
White sadly can go, 29 in October and looks to be on the decline
Would be nice to get a full back covering both sides but no more defenders after that
Would consider offers for Merino, good finisher but is quite average in midfield, doesn't work with Rice at all
Norgaard can go as he wasn't used at all
Decision to be made on Ode, can be genius at times like the assist against West Ham but consistency a big issue in last 2 years
One of Martinelli or Trossard to go - Trossard contract ending in 2027
Madueke can go and hope some mid table club like everton can give our money back
Jesus to be sold else another loss of fee next year and huge wages
Kai - Decision to be made, 300k a week, injury prone and last big renewal left with 2 years left on his contract

In one RB/LB cover, one signing to cover midfield properly (Tonali/Anderson/Baleba), A ceiling raiser at LM and one forward

Gunner89 Madueke won't go lol I'm not sure Merino will either. Think we will keep him for another season.

Odegaard, Martinelli and Havertz all have 2 years left and Trossard and Jesus have 1 year left.

Be interesting to see what happens with them. You could make an argument for all of them making way for a complete revamp but I think 3 will go at most.

Gunner89 Have a hard time seeing any of the signings we made last summer getting sold just due to the amortization owed on their contracts. Madueke signed for 48.5m over 5 years so his book value is still 44.8m according to my investigations. Even if you sold him for the same price we bought him for, we would only bank like 4m. That's not happening. Same thing with Gyokeres. Signed for 55m over 5 years so his book value is still 44m and we would only bank the difference in that value and his selling price. Of course we could decide that we just need to let them go and not worry about profit but that doesn't really sound like how we do business.

A revamp would be a terrible idea and I’d argue is our greatest risk. We’ve got a squad that won the league reached two finals which needs to be levelled up but we need to be super careful to not lose what’s already working well in the process. Liverpool have shown how that can backfire.

Mirth Agree. It will be a super difficult window. Have no clue how Berta might find that Kvara-level winger that we need.

I would bet we see no more than 4 players go, unless someone makes a crazy bid for someone like Martinelli or Odegaard or something. White, Jesus, MAYBE Norgaard and Nelson are the 4 i can see possibly leaving.
