Samba up front obviously. Keep up.

Samba is not the type of player he usually goes for as he is less mobile and not a great distributor.

I have no opinion on Samba actually. Just meh about it. Dont mind, not ideal, but better than nothing.

Who would you two sign if you had the choice?

I feel we need a real investment at CB. Tall, strong, physical, leadership qualities...etc. But I don't really know who would even fit that. I don't want a young CB like Jones or Sakho because I feel we need someone who's already developed. We don't have time for any more projects in that area. I can't warm to the idea of Cahil because Bolton fans don't even seem to rate him. Jagielka is too short, particularly if paired with Vermaelen.

If you could choose, what CB would you bring to Arsenal?

Not really sure. If we're picking from our league, I'd prefer Cahill or Hangeland, but neither are brilliant - probably just the best 'signable' players out there.

So realistically, think we'd have to look abroad.

And who abroad? They'd have to be ready to jump straight into the team and the league.

Jagielka ain't bad but I think he's just more of what we have, while Samba does give us something different. So when you but it that way Samba is probably among the top 2-3 centrebacks in this league that we could realistically get.

Really? I think Hangeland is shit, I don't rate him whatsoever and he won't fit into our system.

I think the best gettable defender in the premierleague was Jones but he chose Manure, 2nd would be Heitinga but then again will he solve our problem? Good defender but too short. Next 2 would be Samba and Cahill. Obviously Cahill would be more quality but looking at what Samba bring us, it would be something different and the sheer size of him is something we are lacking since Campbell.

Some good continental defenders available too in Sakho, Vertonghen and Godin but Wenger only wants premierleague defenders this season, real shame. One question though, where does this leave Bartley Miquel and Squid?

Hangeland has pretty much the same strength and weaknesses as Samba, he's just a whole lot more consistent, so it's a bit odd you'd think that really.

Over the last few years, built around Samba, Blackburn have consistently been one of the worst defensive teams in the league, whereas Fulham, built around Hangeland, have been one of the best mid-table defences out there. I don't desperately want Hangeland, and I don't think there's a chance in hell we'd sign him, but he's miles better than Samba.

No way Hangeland is miles better than Samba, at best they're about on the same level.

At best for Arsenal, perhaps, but in reality Hangeland's a much better player. Samba's a total liability.

I think my opinion of Hangeland is the same as Asa's one on Samba.

Lanky tall defender who is slow, far from my liking. That would be a total liability. I don't think you can weigh both players based on their club defences too, too many variables to make it a proper comparison.

Samba at least would give us strength, power, size in the defence. Seen him in the last couple of season throwing himself everywhere to protect the defence, would love that here.

I don´t think Samba is useless, I just don´t rate him. IF we are bringing in another CB, which I am far from convinced of, we should bring in someone better than Samba.

Honestly, you cannot be watching Chris Samba if that's your opinion of him. Or maybe it's just based off that 5 minutes at the end of the West Ham game that they made a big-deal of on MOTD. Samba is one of the least pro-active defenders out there - he ALWAYS makes sure he's the last man, and when he gets isolated in that position he's far too easy to beat.

Honestly, do you have any idea why, despite being a pretty defensive team, Blackburn have one of the worst defensive records in the league, year after year after year?

As for Hangeland, he's far from perfect, but the Fulham defence has been built around him for the last 3 years and in that time they've only let in 2 goals more than us in the league. If you want someone to sit at the back and head it away, he'll do a much better job of it than Samba.
