In the first half we enjoyed a tactical mismatch due to them setting up in a 442 which suited our 433. They were constantly outnumbered in midfield and we pretty much dominated them there despite the early shakiness. High pressing was also pretty decent and we got to the second balls with rapid transitions that we executed well enough to bring the ball forward quickly but without the quality of the final ball.
Second half the switched things up, and we did not react quickly enough. We lost the numerical advantage in midfield and the back line were losing their heads a little as is typical of us now. On top of that Ben White who was decent up till then was completely shaken up by the penalty. We lost our shape in both defense and midfield. The subs were much needed but were honestly disappointing, in particular Leo and Saka. We eventually managed to get a hold of the game though and really should have won at the end even if we were denied the penalty.
