I don't know. I think he looked good earlier this season (oct-dec). He was blowing past players and created lots of chances, even though goals and assists were lacking a little bit. Now, he looks stiff, slow and completely isolated out wide.

I watched highlights of a few games from 23/24 and the difference between Saka then and now is quite stark. He still has the close control but his initial burst isn't there any more.

The reason why it didn't work today was if you saw from the get-go-

Pep saw during HT that Kepa can't beat that static press that city had, it took him one minute to pass the ball in the first minute of the 2nd half, he cost us more than the clangers alone

Now teta took his sweet ass time when city just kept playing in our own half and then kepa dropped his 3rd clanger when god had given enough chances for teta to rectify his mistakes

Even then teta kept dithering with his subs and then for god sake brought that cunt jesus on

Today arteta lacked cojones in each and every single way

Yeah it'll be overlooked due to his clangers but no way City would allow Raya to pick his passes all game like that.

Yes, Madueke or against weaker opposition Downman if that is what Arteta chooses. I do not see an upside to play out of form Saka week in week out. I actually wanted Saka to be benched at the end of last season, he was already clearly not at his best. IMO we are not doing him or ourselves any favour by persisting in playing him.

I do not believe it is, neither for him or for us. Hungry Saka would be much better at this stage of the season. at least in my opinion. Cog it the machine Saka is underwhelming at best. I accept that majority fans are disagreeing on this one with me, but I truly believe it. I do not see benching as a punishment, but a tactical/menagerial move and I believe Arteta has good enough relationship with him to make it work (again, just an opinion).

I thought Saka looked really sharp during the period we had control of the game. During the period we lost control of the game, I don't think he stood out as any more or less useless than anyone else.

Yeah. There's going to be an international break and then the first game back will be the FA Cup. Dowman will probably start that game and probably play really well and the vibes will be great again.

I'm not, despite the hype I believe that virtualy everybody has realistic expectations of him. Having a washed up, weak-mentality player coming in instead was a let down and a bad move.
