If we don't win this season, bottling will sadly be Arteta's legacy. And it will be our legacy until we win the league.
I might be wrong but I sense the fatalism we're all feeling is that we fear we're not going to win it for long time if we don't win it this year. I know that's how I felt but reflecting on it (and maybe this is copium), I don't think that has to be the case.
With post-Invincibles Wenger, we knew we were punching above our weight when we were on title runs, we didn't have the backing (or the balls?) to buy the best, so we rifled through the dregs. Under Arteta, we've been up against the juggernauts of Klopp's Liverpool but more so Guardiola's City. But now we've got owners who seem committed to consistent investment, who seem to care about winning. And Guardiola is likely gone in the next couple of seasons, whilst City already seem to have lost their aura.
I guess what I'm saying is, if we don't win this season, I don't think it's 'over'. It probably is for Arteta but if we replace him and bring serial winners into the squad (because we don't have any), I think that upgrades our collective mental firepower (for want of a better expression) to the level we need to achieve our goals.
