This feels like a succinct distillation of Berta's MO. Not that I disagree with it entirely but in certain circumstances I think you have to pay top dollar as you can risk wasting cumulatively more money on a load of inadequate facsimiles.

Definitely makes sense for back-up players though and I'm heartened by the suggestion we are in fact looking for a marquee signing when it comes to our frontline.

Cannon I hope that's true. A big attacking addition should be the priority. Having midfield depth is nice and all but it shouldn't come at the expense of upgrading the front line.

Neymar is obviously a gamble but I reckon he could have a similar impact as Ronaldo in 2002 if he's able to play. No such illusions from a player like Pedro.

Sorry, not a chance IMO. (and i assume you mean Ronaldo 2022). Neymar has no leadership, he's completely washed up as a player, Barely able to string any run of games together in almost 4 years. And he might not even be fit to play in their opening game. Ancelotti made a mistake on this one, and Brazil need to move on from him.

Ronaldo, at least, was 'healthy'. And Neymar has scored the vast majority of his goals in friendlies, while Ronaldo has at least scored the overwhelming majority of his goals in competitive games.

USArsenal no, he meant R9 2002 leading them to the WC win having been oit for the best part of 4 years with multiple knee injuries and only returning to competitive football in late 2001/early 2002.

Then again Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers in history so you make space for him if there is any chance. Neymar is quality as well but not on the same level R9 was at any point in his career regardless of whether it was pre injury R9 or post injury R9.

USArsenal I meant the real Ronaldo in 2002. Had barely played for almost two years, came back and won the world cup for Brazil.

Tournaments aren't about maintaining a consistent level, they're about performing for three weeks against uneven opposition in a single summer with your nation's honor on the line. It's a stage set for artists as opposed to endurability drones.

Big yes please to Barcola. Best realistic LW option out there IMO.

I'm fine with settling on a more budget friendly option at CM if that means we can spend more on the attack.

For example, if buying someone like Manu Kone for 50m euros means we can bring in Rogers, Barcola and maybe Kroupi/Endrick, that would be a perfect summer for me. We don't need major surgery on our midfield or defense. We do need more goals. Really feels like we are approaching this market very intelligently but the proof will be in the pudding.

lorddulaarsenal I do not think we are going to bring in two CM's this summer. It would be Kone or Scott. There's no need to get two unless we are selling someone like Odegaard.
