Cannon if he's selling cast offs I don't care that much but if he wants to sell decent young players like Martinelli they can't go cheap.

USArsenal yeah wouldn't touch Vlahovic. He's a poor character and vastly overrated. Been dining out on that one good Forienta season for years.

Ugh, no. Even on a free. He pretty much shunned us a few years ago in the earlier stages of The Project, and reportedly even as recent as last year during the Jan window on loan (though not sure how true that is).

This sounds to me like exactly what Hincapie is so not sure how we lack that. Hincapie is good defensively (in fact very good) and is rapid (just ask @lorddulaarsenal who never fails to inform us)

samthegooner There's no way Chelsea is selling Joao Pedro due to his amortization costs, just like there isn't really much chance of us selling Gyokeres or Madueke. I really wish more of these media outlets would report on this specific topic. If Chelsea sold Joao Pedro this summer, he would still have a book value of 48.6m pounds (bought for 56.7m over 7 year contract, each year amortizes 8.1m). To my understanding, that means even if they sold him for 80m this summer, they'd only add 31.4m to their budget.

I get the whole amortisation thing but this doesn't make any sense. If they had the funds to buy a player for 50m last summer and sold him for 80 million this summer his book value would be 40m and they'd have made a 40m profit. That makes sense. But then they'd be able to spend the whole 80m wouldn't they because although they'd have to pay off the remaining 40m amortisation, they still had 40 of the 50m remaining from the previous year that they'd be able to use again, no?

Big Willie Champ definitely see what you’re saying and I might be wrong but I’m just rephrasing what Magic Hat has said on Twitter in the past and he knows much more about the financial side than I do. I just don’t think it makes much sense to sell the next summer unless for a big profit.

Don't think we are getting any big signings until after the WC anyway. Seems BBB is working on scooping up the best young talents around first. Top players with an Arteta mindset wont want transfers messing with their world cup.

Qwiss It does look that way. Happy for them to take this time working on getting in some young guns.

On the other hand if we are to believe Mokbel then 2 of our 3 targets (Kroupi + Fernandes) aren't at the world cup, so there is the possibility of movement during the tournament. But those targets may also depend on what happens with our players that are at the World Cup.
