I'm a big fan of Alvarez and wanted him last summer, but I think we're dodging a big bullet here. He's had a poor season and didn't really cop on from last year. I don't think he's good enough for the physical demands of Premier League sadly. We'd be signing a worse version of Havertz.

Kroupi is the way to go this summer.

Gunner89 Looks an unreal talent to me, 22 goals in 2nd division in France and then 13 in the PL aged 19 is bloody impressive.

Agree about the fee, needs to be reasonable but as we found out last summer strikers are in very short supply and high demand. This guy has proven he can handle this league and only 19 years old as well. If you do pay a bit over the top you have a lot of years in the player who you can be fairly confident will settle right in. When you get someone from abroad there is always a settling in period but with him less so.

We'll get a lot of what we want this summer. No club is gonna be substantially more appealing. Great morale, great squad, playing football at the highest level, and no transition phase seems to be on its way just yet: sign up and win a major trophy or three over your next contract.

Burnwinter I think we are close to that status but not quite there as we are seeing with players preferring Barca or PSG to us. However that list of clubs has rapidly shrunk to probably those two aforementioned and Madrid. If we can win the final on Saturday, I think it will go a long way to putting us dead even with those three in terms of appeal globally.

samthegooner Maybe, but I think if you're not playing in England you're not really playing. Oddly this "worst ever Premier League season" is confirming it more than ever. English football is evolving much faster than on the continent.

It's now the brutal schedule and the fact that in England your club might be playing Brentford midweek and Brentford these days are arguably stronger than any French team other than PSG that's disguising things as far as the European contests are concerned. But even then Villa walk over Freiburg like they're stretching their legs.

I'm not celebrating the lopsidedness but I reckon it can go further. The more it goes on the more likely there's another super league push.

With Barca looking to be the favorites for Alvarez (how they can afford him is another question) and Bournemouth holding all the cards for Kroupi, I do wonder if Rogers is more of a replacement for Jesus. He’s got the traits to be a dominant second striker and has played on both wings as well as attacking midfield.

I still would love to get someone like him and then a pacy, touchline winger like Barcola. If we got them both then I’d be okay letting Martinelli OR Trossard go in addition to Jesus but likely not both of our current LW.

RowJimmy I don't see why we would do this unless Bournemouth would accept a much smaller offer than they've been quoting (80-100m). Our window is now and we should be adding players to our attack that can either plug and play or develop in training and be an option towards the latter half of the season. I'd be fine with doing this with someone like Monga but not a player who just scored double digit goals in his debut EPL season as a teenager.
