Okay I'll admit, I am not feeling too optimistic about any incomings. Seems weird we still haven't gotten anything definitive on Alvarez but I think no news is likely bad news, although the signing of David for Atletico does make me wonder a bit.
Of the remaining options for LW, I feel like it would be a mistake to make any bigger money signing like Schade and end up in a similar position to Noni this year where we know we should be upgrading but aren't able to shift the player so quickly. Don't get me wrong, I like Schade but I feel like our team has outgrown a player like that as he is essentially just a big spaces and duels player who would frustrate us to no end when needing to be more technically secure. I'd be more willing to take a punt on Fofana or Bahoya, who are both very unfinished but have the top end athleticism and technical ability to take a bet on at a lower fee. Anything over 40m euros for either would be a bridge too far for me though.
I'm a little disappointed to see us still shopping Nwaneri around on loan since it feels like there would be some opportunities for him if we don't bring anyone else in - just one injury to anyone out of Odegaard/Merino/Eze/Havertz/Gyokeres and I could see him slotting in at the 10 or even a false 9 in an extreme injury crisis. Hopefully that means we are confident on bringing in one more body and then we would want him to get more minutes elsewhere.
