And I always wonder how many of these Twitter accounts are real people, or AI that has figured out that controversy breeds engagement - or combination. So folks end up getting frustrated by and arguing with robots that don't give a shit about your mental wellbeing, just the number of likes, forwards and re-posts. Getting exposed again to the PR propaganda sponsored by Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer has been one of the more unfortunate side effects of rising close to their level globally. It is absolutely absurd the amount of bullshit that gets published by legitimate media organizations in Spain and I'd be surprised if it doesn't have at least a little impact on players since it clearly has a big impact on fans. Hopefully, Arteta is able to speak directly with the player so we can shoot through that noise.

I am ready for Monday to be here and have an actual match to focus on, as well as for this window to close. We are the best team in the league now and will be on Monday regardless of what happens over the next few days.

I continue to be amazed and aghast at how much more money is involved in the transfer fees than in the payments to the players themselves. And I don't understand why the players go along with it rather than running down their contracts. The idea of more money changing hands for the right to enter into a contract with me than I will receive over the life of the contract would infuriate me. If my services are worth 100M€ then I want those 100M€.

All Spanish contracts have release clauses, which strikes me as a very good thing. But Alvarez chose to sign a contract with a release clause for 500M€ (or some similarly absurd number). So that's his fault.
