From his point of view I can see why he is so set on Barca they have a free spot at CF that he would slot into very well. Country, culture and language suits him. He's already spent time in Manchester albeit London is better but clearly Spain preferable.

I think the q is more would he rather stay at Atletico or come to Arsenal once he accepts Barca is not an option.

Gunner89 this is the same club that chased Fabregas for 4 years even though they had the best midfield in the world. They ended up playing Fabregas as a forward.

So yeah, you may be right logically but I don't trust Barcelona or any player that pines for them.

also barcelona cannot financially fund both operations, they have to sustain a lot through sales, while they sold ferran they've spent big money on signings

Gunner89 when have Barca ever thought about who they need to sell etc before they sign someone. They regularly sign players without room in the squad and cause themselves issues. Logical football business doesn't matter to Spains big 2.

I don’t disagree with a lot of the comments here and don’t have a lot of love in my heart for Argentinian players in general. However, simply put, Alvarez makes us better this year. If he can be convinced to come here, I want him because I think he will help to take our attack up a level. If the choice is between no one and Alvarez, I’m fine with bringing in Alvarez.

Panda he definitely fits Barca better as he's not really an and out goal scorer so it suits him to have wingers who score a lot more than ours do.

He would probably help Martinelli score more but I'm not sure Martinelli plus Alvarez outscored Tzolis plus Gyok/Kai. That's one of my issues with this, he's a good player but he seems like a bad fit both in terms of on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Bernard Woolley all well and good but I’m not convinced Bournemouth is letting Kroupi go in January and I want another title this year. I think we can do it without Alvarez but adding him would make it much more probable imo.
