Irishgunner having Odegaard back in form will dramatically help.

Saka will still be efficient with his decision making, and I trust his delivery. Hopeful that he gets his shot back.

But as long as he can stay/start higher up field I'm not too worried. He looks bulked up so he may be aware that his game needs to evolve.

I'm bullish on Saka these days, though a month back I was worried....corn rows changed it all, man looks ready for business.

This is my hope too. It gets overlooked exactly how little he played last season. For context he played about half the PL minutes that Timber did and about 1000 less than Saka. As much as we've added a lot of the depth to the squad and raised the floor the reality is that our 2 best attackers are still Odegaard and Saka. The worry of course is that their injury issues persist. Same with Havertz. If they all stay fit the attack is fine, if they don't then its going to be a struggle. I'd have liked another player on the left close to that Ode and Saka level, or even better if we'd got Vini, to alleviate some of that risk but it hasn't worked out.

If we can't get a serious target that elevates us then I think it makes more sense to stick with Martinelli instead of signing someone who acts as a blocker to a future transfer in January or next summer.

Thought Saka showed more explosiveness in his burst and strength on Sunday than he showed all last season personally. He needs to continue to be managed in the beginning of the season along with Rice, Havertz and Odegaard but I’m extremely bullish on all four if we can keep them relatively fit. I’ll be worried if we sell Martinelli, Jesus and/or Nwaneri and also don’t bring in another attacker. If we end the window with Martinelli and no new attacker, then I’ll be fine.

Even if we don't sign any attacker of note we should still win the PL. It's a transitional season for the other league challengers and there's a glaring absence of top managers at these clubs with Guardiola and Klopp gone and the likes of Conte, Ancelotti and Mourinho a distant memory. There is no chance Carrick, Maresca, Alonso or Iraola are winning the league this season.

Our back five + Rice and Guimaraes means we're guaranteed 80 points almost automatically. The hope is then the likes of Saka, Havertz, Odegaard and Eze are able to work some magic to win us 5 - 10 points on top of that when the aforementioned spine aren't at their best.

RowJimmy I’m more worried about this season than 2 or 3 years down the line. I feel what you are saying about balancing horizons, but we are already in the 5th year of this cycle. The bloody cheats at City cost us 2-3 titles between us battling them and the team falling apart from 2 brutal seasons.
Also want to get our first back to back in basically a century. We need that to create aura. That’s why I really like the Guimarães signing. He’s top tier now. Get him in. City will get good in 2-3 years. Maybe same for others. We need to execute now.

Coombs I am generally and all in all for lossiness, and I ethically acknowledge both the lossiness of the apparently lossless in its immanence, and the positive excess of the apparently lossy over and above the puritanical dogma of its deficiency … however I must affirm from the perspective of a fan that a player contract is a lossless artefact: such a contract is a transcendent structure, a holy relic sacramentally signed in blood before one of the few gods I worship … and to the extent I affirm some others may be in-the-knowledge in order to declare my own fannish telos of becoming-in-the-knowledge … by all my gods, urgently give me the lossless knowledge of player contracts, not yet more anaemic and desecrated lossiness.

That said I do believe we'll sign someone in attack - As you can see liverpool haven't got anyone yet, spurs have not yet despite being crazy overspenders, i have a feeling it will be alvarez (though my feelings on him are mixed)

chelsea is the right club for rogers. he won't be played out of position in alonso's 3-4-2-1 system. we would have the same eze problems: "oh he might not be a winger, but he can play on the left, look at his [previous club here] heat map."

I think Eze will be used centrally but will have reduced minutes. Will be on the pitch when we need to set up with more attacking intent

lorddulaarsenal Eze is such an interesting player. I love the coming home story, but when folks talk about resource allocation, he's one who seems to evade scrutiny, particularly given that he will be behind Odegaard, Rice, and Merino for those AM positions. And if we go 2 deep and 1 farther up, then he is distinctly behind Ode and Merino. That for me is a bigger "resource allocation" discussion than either Gyokeres or Madueke.

But I am fine with all 3 TBH because I would rather these guys as my second string than when we won the FA Cup in 2020 versus chelsea. The midfielders on the bench were Willock, Matt Smith, and Torreira. None of those guys would even dream of being shorlisted by Berta for this Arsenal team, including Willock who caused a lot of heartache amongst fans when he left.
