Gunner89 we played Flamini because all our other left backs were injured. Emery used to bench Cash to play Konsa at right back a couple of seasons ago.

But also Konsa is coming in as a squad player so being positional versatile is kind of the point

Also contrary to some suggestions here, white is fit and he's not broken down yet and timber is coming back

We have 3 injury prone players and 1 long term injury - we obviously need a defensive signing

White should ideally have gone and we could have had a new rb too but there's too much business already to do to factor in another signing

Mirth but then why not buy someone who is primarily a RB? I'm not going to pretend I've seen Konsa at RB but surely there's players out there whoare cheaper but also better at RB?

Don Pacifico probably because Konsa is a very good one v one defender. One of the best in the league.

None of our full backs are ‘traditional’ tbh - they’ve all been centre back/full backs hybrids

The fact is the market has gone up 20-30% by inflation and that's also due to the increased revenues clubs are getting...

People here are living in some delusional world...villa are paying a record sum for a player who's had 1 season in the bundesliga, brighton are paying 50m for a cb, Spurs paid 85m for a mid who got relegated twice

People bringing out all kinds of pie charts to defend noni who's trash and will be trash - he's not a youth prospect (1 year younger than Saka) with pathetic goal stats and not doing defensive work at all while being off their rocket for one of the PL's best defenders who's led villa to highs they've not seen in at least the 25 years i've watched football

Mirth yeah, that's fair. I guess underlying my concern is that I'm not confident in Konsa/Mosquera's ability to progress the ball or support our RW. You are right that any option is likely to be a downgrade on our first choice but I can't believe there aren't other cheaper, better options.

Because it impacts future investment. We've already seen that in previous seasons where we've had to bring in Raya and Hincapie on loan. Overpaying adds up.

DiabyKungFu Hate to admit it but you're the one making sense here. Konsa is way too old and too pseudo-versatile to pay £60m for him then put him on a 4 year contract.

brother who said konsa is going for 60m, he's going for 60m just like bruno went for 100m and our initial bid was 45m and then we met in the middle

Arsenal's stance is 30m, their's is 60m, we'll meet halfway and then half of you will be changing your stance on him without fessing up

He's about as old as bruno btw and the talent we have there is MLS whereas the talent we have in CB is Mosquera

MLS is far more accomplished in his position at a fair bit younger age imo
