definitely do not want a Hincapie. I want more of a Calafiori profile. Happy with the Fresneda and Kounde as options. Kounde is closer to Calafiori as an option who can swing into Saliba's position if needed, so will be a limited change from White/Timber, while Fresneda gives us more of an MLS attacking profile.

Claudius Yup if we go for a right back I definitely want them to be more of an attacking profile. I loved the look of Palestra but Chelsea snapped him up early. Fresneda has always looked like a good prospect to me and also has size and experience at CB. Acheampong is more of a hybrid but I think he has great potential going forward with his athleticism and ball skills.

The guy that I would love for us to look at is Munoz from Palace. He's not young (30) so it would be a win now move but he's been very impressive to me going forward and looks to be a decent defender as well. I doubt his fee would be enormous (Transfermarkt has him at 22m euros) and he could slot right in and allow us to play White, Mosquera and even Timber at RCB while Saliba is out.

He's either the White replacement or the Mosquera replacement or possibly both. Whatever you think of Mosquera, surely White is more in need of replacement. If he's not replacing anyone then we already have Mosquera + White + Timber (+ Saliba when he gets back) plus Rice + Zubimendi + Salmon as emergency options. We have plenty of numbers here as is. If you're signing him because you're worried about Timber, then how long is Timber out for? Are we signing a 28 year old for £50m to replace a guy that's out for 4 weeks?

Secondly players physically decline at different ages - It's an obvious fact

White's injury issues have had a massive impact on his game

If we wanted to play a project player who'd make mistakes that's mosquera

If we wanted a 25-26 year old really good cb they wouldn't come to be back-up and would be even more expensive

In fact this allows mosquera to develop and show he can improve so it's actually a win-win

Right. He's a RB/CB hybrid who won't substantially cut into the playing time of any of the 3 RB/CB hybrids we have (White, Timber, Mosquera).

We either don't have enough players (which obviously isn't true) or he would come here to replace one or more players that we have or he would come here to do nothing. I don't really think there's some secret fourth option here.

I'd rather see Mosquera play CB than RB. By that token, I'd rather our defensive signing be primarily a RB that can cover CB as opposed to the other way round.

Coupled with White's long-term prognosis, I think that makes more sense than buying Konsa.

Konsa only makes sense to me under one of two conditions:
1) we have decided that Mosquera is not good enough and we are looking to sell.
2) we expect both Saliba and Timber to be unavailable for 3 months.
Otherwise I'd rather play Mosquera or, if necessary, Salmon (or 3 at the back).
I'm more worried about the left side of defense where we have 3 players even when all healthy.

DiabyKungFu Hate to admit it but you're the one making sense here. Konsa is way too old and too pseudo-versatile to pay £60m for him then put him on a 4 year contract.

I'll wait to (NOT) see it but a CB needs to be experienced and very few 22 year olds at CB can play consistently the way we need to especially given we need to be defensively solid as we've not improved our goalscoring this summer. The sense of buying a player for now in bruno is made redundant by having a project cb at centre back.

I don't know what's hard to understand here- Konsa will start over Mosquera and make sure that saliba is eased in so that heaven forbid gabriel/saliba like rice/zubi are not run to the ground - remember in brazil training gabriel got injured mid-season because he was already playing a lot.

For context city have guehi, dias, gvardiol and khusanov and here you are crying because the club is paying 40-45m for a player who clearly improves our depth and eases reliance on saliba/gabriel.

In terms of players that actually play, they have Ait-Nouri, O'Reilly, Khusanov, Gvardiol, Guehi, Dias and Nunes. We have Calafiori, Hincapie, Gabriel, Saliba, Mosquera, White and Timber.
