Qwiss Konsa is significantly better than Mosquera (at the moment) and could be the difference between a successful title defence vs one that falls apart before Christmas. He may not be a sexy signing, but he's an experienced leader who'll come in and hit the ground running. And if that holds us over for the first half of the season, no one would be complaining about how much he costs. Thereafter, he can back Saliba up and act as a proper floor raiser.

That said, I'd cap his usefulness at around £50m.

TambourineMan he's not going to go for less than £50m. If we could get him for £30-40m that's not so bad, he's worth about £35m. And people will complain about his cost like we complain about Maduekes cost.

daredevil paying £60m plus for Konsa would be a worse overpay than £117m for Rogers.

daredevil I'm not convinced we can't be more cost-efficient. I agree we need to sign a defender but not convinced Konsa is a good investment. I don't hate it but I don't love it.

Any money we don't spend on a defender is money that can be invested on an attacker, which is why I care about the fee/cost efficiency.

We have valuations for each player and would sign our targets if they fall within it. We were willing to break the bank for Vini Jr but refused to pay for Rogers and negotiated a lower fee for Bruno and now Konsa.

For first team players, I'm willing to spend significant funds and even overpay but not on someone who will be a squad player who we probably won't even use that much in a year's time.

Konsa on paper makes sense and would be a good, sensible signing. However, unlike Bruno, I have never watched Konsa play and thought that he was anything special.

we're not spending 60m on konsa. if you're fine with him for 40m that's probably closer to what we'll pay. i'm not fine with him at all, unlike some i like mosquera. we need a RB, not a CB who can play RB because he can mark wingers.

It’s a huge no for me on Neto. We have enough left footed wingers as it is and don’t need a worse version of Martinelli running to the end line on repeat again.

I can no longer judge what any given player is "worth" given market inflation and I don't see how any of us can have a real opinion about particular numbers.
So I'll make a distinction between nominal money, modest money, real money, and absurd money.
I have no problem spending nominal money on whoever. Norgaard didn't play but he was still a fine acquisition.
Tzolis is a good example of modest money. Madueke was on the line between modest and real and that's what makes the fee we paid for him reasonably controversial.
I have no problem spending absurd money on genuinely elite players. Fine for Vini. Not for Morgan Rogers.
Personally I have no problem spending real money on potential (let's say, 23 and under) but YMMV. I really wanted Bouaddi and still think Kroupi, injured or not, should be top of our attacker list.
And I think it makes sense to spend real money on players who will start for us, even if only for 2-3 years. No problem with Bruno.
What I don't want for us to do is to spend real money on players over 23 who are not going to start when everyone is healthy such as Konsa.
And I wouldn't spend a dime on a POS like Romero. Despicable.

Don't care who we get in defence but Mosquera, White and Calafiori need to sort themselves out for the start of the season.

daredevil we are at a level where we don't need to make desperation signings like Konsa though. Our window isn't just next season, its the next few years. We can do better than Konsa for £60-70m
