We have a lot of injuries to deal with and need players who are good enough to start for the champions to avoid falling behind. That's the reason we're going for Bruno.

JazzG You're confusing rumours with strategy. There's no indication we've ever launched a bid for Scott or Kroupi. There are lots of rumours that we're heavily in for Bruno and have already agreed personal terms by contrast. I think it's clear that we want a starter in midfield (and if we were in for Scott it's because we think he's good enough to start). Ödegaard hasn't been properly fit for about two years and Declan Rice is being held together with duct tape right now. If he starts 50+ games again we might as well send him to the glue factory in June, because he'll never race again. Those are our main concerns I believe; not who might be starting for us in 3-4 years.

CPM This is extremely anecdotal and doesn't really mean anything, but I was in Brazil two years ago and I was surprised over the esteem to which Arsenal are being held. Outside of Real and Barca (and clubs like Inter and Milan for historical reasons) we seem to enjoy some of the best reputation of European clubs. I work with a phd student from Brazil and she has mentioned this too. Her local club is Atlético Mineiro where Gilberto used to play.

I can see how Arsenal would be an attractive option to Vinnie outside of Spain. But then again we'd probably be just off the back of winning the league and playing a CL final. The top tier in Europe is small. It would be PSG, City, us, perhaps Bayern...

Yeah, I was just about to post this. Failing to agree a contract with Real Madrid and then successfully agreeing a contract with Arsenal would be curious. I'm not sure how this would work and, if it did work, I'm not sure how much I'd like it. To me, he's on the same tier of player as Barcola/Diomande but would probably be a crazy amount more expensive.

1) Arteta doenst do ego’s
2) Means we would have to sell Martinelli because where else will he play?
3) His wage demands (prob around £350K) would rock the boat
4) It’s more likely his agent using us to get a better contract for his player

Sicario2 arteta would have sanctioned the move, and we'll make space for him. nelli has indicated he'd be happy to stay at arsenal even if he only has a bit part. the only point i see as an issue is the last one. thats a very real possibility

Sicario2 I don't have high hopes, just think it's a logical move for us to make and given everything going on in the market, we are a highly plausible destination. Additionally, all the briefings at the start of the window were that we were willing to do one mega signing; given we baulked at Rogers my glass half full take was that there must be an unnamed big player that we had in mind.

For what it's worth, I'm not as jazzed about him as others but he'd obviously be an upgrade, which would be great.

I feel that Mourinho knows he has to let go of one of Mbappe, Bellingham and Vinicius this summer if he wants the team to become a greater whole, and it looks unlikely to be one of the first two (which is the correct analysis imo). Vinnie leaving makes sense, especially given his contract situation. I don't think it's just wages that has stopped him from committing.
