Klaus that relies on Calafiori being fit. We need another defender because Mosquera and Hincapie can cover CB but they can't both cover CB and full back. We need another body in defence or to trade out some of the unfit players.

If Mosquera and Hincapie are only going to be thought of or used as backup CB's, their playing time will significantly shrink. I know they will get some games, but those 2 covering for RB/LB in addition to CB meant that they played a lot more games last season. If they see their roles reduced, not sure either of them would want to stay that long. And since we activated the buy clause for Hinc this summer, im not sure if Arteta and the team see him as just a backup CB.

Maybe we need one more CB that can cover for Wilo and Gab. Not sure Mavro is the answer, as we usually dont buy back players that we've let leave the club (and im not talking at the youth level).

Qwiss It's not ideal but I think it's a situation where we might need to make an emergency January signing if someone is absent longterm. We only have so many squad places.

It's a concern in general that so many of them are filling up with crocks though, yes (and to be fair Mavropanos used to be an übercrock too when he was with us). Unmanageable longterm. If it were me I'd tell Arteta to keep three out of Calafiori, Ödegaard, Havertz, Saka, Jesus, White and Timber.

Klaus at minimum we cannot carry any squad players that are injury prone. The number one requirement for a squad player is to be available.

Unfortunately that means someone like Ben White has to go - it's not even his fault because I largely believe the club ran him to the ground and got him to this state but keeping him and Timber guarantees another right back crisis at some point this season.

Klaus I don't think we can wait until January. We are already looking at Saliba missing the first 2 months. Timber is currently injured and with White and Cala they can both go at any time. That Leaves Gabriel, Mosquera and Hincapie as they 3 fit and ready players. And that doesn't mean they are immune from injury either. In general I think 7 defenders is one short for a top team. You need 2 in every position. Maybe you could put Myles back in at left back but Arteta can be very particular about not moving young players around.

Then again he just won the league with this lot so he can do whatever he wants of course. But over the next 12 months some tough decisions will have to be made because otherwise this squad will fall apart. There's strength in healthy numbers. Berta came in and realised this immediately last summer. You remove any of the signings we made (bar maybe Nörgaard) and there would be no league title.

Mirth this has to be the approach for our squad. The very optimistic takes are the injuries players will be okay and deliver to their previous highs. I think that's a reckless approach and you should be planning for a season what does it look like if they don't. We have Saka, Ode, havertz, Timber, Califiori and can probably add rice and Saliba. If your lucky some of them come through okay but work on the basis that 3 or 4 of them may not contribute as we like. What does that mean for the team and in the market seek to mitigate including getting rid of having too much injury history in some.

I'm not convinced we'll be able to move White, after all he won't have played an uninjured competitive minute since the end of the season. But we should sign a right back anyway and hope to flip White in winter if we can't now.

Mirth Timbers season long injury basically fucked them both. It meant White was run into the ground and then Timber didn't get a break when he came back because with White injured he'd no cover. Hindisghts 20-20 and all but we probably should have signed a loan at RB (although were we tied up on loans that year due to Sterling and someone else?).

If we could get someone like Acheampong in this summer, that would be ideal to me. He's got enormous potential, a decent amount of PL experience already, and can play both RB and CB. I think he will end up being a tremendous RB with the proper coaching and opportunities and Chelsea clearly need to sell this summer, even if they don't want to sell a prospect like him.

Thinks we will go for Tzolis now Trossard is gone. Also says this move is separate to our interest in signing more high profile attackers mentioning Alvarez + Rogers. So if we want another 2 big attackers on top. I'm happy.

I don't see it. The Trossard out before Tzolis in - is indicative of how we will operate this summer.

Our squad is huge. Unless we see outgoings, I think we will see very few signings in.

Norgaard out, Bruno in will be the other transfer.

And Amy activity beyond that will be contingent on outgoings.

I don't get this whole 'Barcola is the alternative option to Rogers' thing that the press are being briefed on. Very different players and I'm still not convinced Rogers should be are starting LW, as much as I like him. Just give me a proper winger please.

Putting my feelings on Alvarez and Rogers to the side, I don't know what about that update makes you confident that we sign Bruno G. If they hold the line on £80-85m then I cannot imagine that it happens.

DiabyKungFu I actually mentioned up thread i think we'll do the deal at 80-85m including all the add-ons. we're at the point where we'll just have to cough up exorbitant sums to get the pieces that make a difference, and i feel bruno g is one of them
