in fact we would have been better off playing merino even if viktor was healthy because the spurs cbs would have ate up his runs into the channels. a false 9 dropping into midfield had their 3 central defenders wondering who to mark.

The players will all be very keen to be involved, I think any regulars we left out would view it as a bit ridiculous if we turned over the whole XI to take on one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

I'm hoping we pocket the game before the hour and give some of our returning and fringe players a 30–40 minute run-out. Wouldn't mind seeing Dowman running round scaring the life out of Guerreiro (or whoever they have at left back) if we're 2–0 up.

Resting a player or two here and there just so you can say you tried to rest them, isn't worth it. Especially if you lose it can impact the momentum and good feeling around the team. And also goes against the ethos of taking every game seriously in its own right that Arteta preaches every day.

I think Chelsea is the priority and they played a pretty strong team. I’d like us to rest a few but Arteta doesn’t seem to do that very much unless it’s forced on him.

While Chelsea may be a big game (for sure), so is this. These are the kind of games that all the players want to be a part of. This is what's known as a 'big European night'. Two top teams going at each other... At home... i dont see more than 2 or 3 changes for this one. Just my hunch. We had a big win on Sunday, we probably want the momentum to continue.

Chelsea just had a statement win v Barca, so they will be buzzing. Pretty sure Arteta saw that game, and also saw that Pep made wholesale changes and got tonked at home v Leverkusen. I know people want to rest our players, but im pretty sure a home game in the CL v Bayern ain't the one we're gonna rest more than half our team.
