Us and City play at the same time on Sunday. They are playing an in form Villa whilst we got Palace.

Both us and City play on Tuesday in CL and both Villa and Palace play on Thursday in EL.

For example the Villa game at 1230 Sat looks tough but they play Brighton away on the Wed (and we play Brentford at home).

City's next three league fixtures now look to be among the most difficult they'll face all season.

Liverpool's are a bit less intense, but with City and Liverpool playing each other in a fortnight—likely a "must win" six-pointer for both—it's looking quite rosy for our progress in the near future.

If we can hold our nerve and roll with injury problems through the NLD, we might find ourselves in a proper breakaway.

Win our next three, and roughly the worst case is we're 6 clear of City and 10 clear of Liverpool.

And if that were to happen we'd also have pulled away from all three of Bournemouth (beaten by City), Spurs (beaten by us) and Sunderland (beaten by us) in the process.

If Bournemouth want to carve a couple of points out of City, so much the better. If Liverpool and City want to kick lumps out of each other in a controversial draw, so much the better.

One game at a time, but … let's win our next three.

Results updated up the top … no generosity from our proper rivals over the weekend, Pool and City made fairly routine work of misfiring opponents at home, but we did well to beat Burnley away which hasn't been an easy task for most of their visitors.

Next Saturday we've got a vital assignment at the Stadium of Light. If we beat Sunderland, we'll go 9 and 10 points clear of City and Liverpool respectively before they face each other at the Etihad on Sunday.

It's a massive opportunity, by no means can Sunderland away be called a "must win", but victory would guarantee another psychological blow to one or both of our contenders.

I think City are going to smash Liverpool to be honest. It's really important we beat Sunderland otherwise the momentum and narrative is going to shift next weekend.

I think Sunderland is a must win tbh. Our two away's after Sunderland are vs Chelsea and Villa. We also play Spurs at home. We need a buffer going into that run.

I really don't reckon we can call it a "must win", but it's definitely important. And I agree City are looking ominously good.

On the bright side, if we beat Sunderland and Liverpool do get beaten at the Etihad, they're 10 points behind us and they'll be just about writing this season off.

I think we have to win it in the sense previous title races our rivals have been ruthless and exploited these moments and it's Arsenal that have always not had what it takes and let things slip. We need to build the psychology for us and projected to the rivals that this isn't the same Arsenal as the past 3 seasons and we won't let those teams back in. Any dropped points just make a city etc believe we can't see it through and encourages their motivation.
